Listen to the clamor of the engine, the chug of the wheels and the call of the whistle as you travel aboard the Disneyland Railroad! Offering convenient stops at New Orleans Square, Tomorrowland, Mickey’s Toontown and Main Street, U.S.A., it's the perfect way to preview the magic at Disneyland Park and take in the picturesque scenery. The Disneyland Railroad is also a handy way to get around quickly and easily. And because the trains are scheduled to arrive every 5 to 10 minutes at most times throughout the day, you’ll have just enough time to take in all the sights at your station before you board! Blast from the Past There are 5 meticulously restored, working narrow-gauge trains you can ride. Each includes 4 sets of passenger cars and has been named after a careful selection of locomotive legends. The lone exception is the Ward Kimball, which was named after the Disney Animator who fostered Walt Disney’s passion for the railway. C.K. Holliday E.P. Ripley Ernest Marsh Fred Gurley Ward Kimball A Longstanding Disney Tradition A noted train enthusiast, Walt Disney built his very first railroad in his backyard. The Carolwood Pacific Railroad, a 1/8-scale train, debuted in 1950 and featured a custom-built, steam powered locomotive that encircled his property. Delighted with his miniature backyard railroad, Walt decided to share his love of trains with the whole world. The result was the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad, a favorite of Guests since the park opened in 1955. Today, railroads exist at every Disney park around the globe.
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! is a dark ride attraction at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. It is based on the 2001 Disney·Pixar film Monsters, Inc. It opened January 22, 2006 with a grand Sulley-Blue-Fur Carpet Premiere.The attraction replaced the short-lived Superstar Limo dark ride, and utilizes the same track layout. The CDA agents in the ride are re-dressed and repositioned celebrity figures from Superstar Limo. In addition, Superstar Limo's ride vehicles were reused for the attraction, repainted and re-dressed as Monstropolis taxi cabs.RideThe queue area, where guests wait to board the attraction, is themed to a bus station named the Monstropolis Transit Authority, featuring posters and videos of commercials of tourist spots in the fictional city of Monstropolis where the film is set.Guests board taxis on a journey through the streets of Monstropolis. A small television monitor in each of the three rows of the ride vehicle plays a clip of a tourism video that is interrupted with urgent news that a female human child named Boo has been seen in the city. The news is the subject of consternation as contact with humans is considered deadly to the monsters of the city.The taxis exit a tunnel through a detour from the welcoming gate and go down the dark streets of the city, passing characters Mike and Celia in Mike's new car as Mike wishes her a happy birthday. Riders proceed to see Randall, who looks around angrily.
