Constructed in 1907, St. Andrew's Hall is was the historic meeting site for the St. Andrew's Scottish Society of Detroit. This iconic venue, has hosted a multitude of live acts and is a favorite of Detroiters young and old. The largest location, the Main Ballroom, features a hardwood dance floor, a bar over 35 feet long, an in-house sound and lighting system as well as a unique VIP balcony level offering prime viewing opportunities of the stage. Located on the lower level, The Shelter offers a private bar, stage, cabaret seating, a DJ booth, red curtains and private rooms. Going upstairs, The Society Room is a luxurious, intimate lounge space with a vintage feel – including exposed brick, original floors, and one-hundred-year-old windows. City Theatre is a 400-seat theatre in the Hockeytown Café building in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. City theater produces and presents a wide variety of attractions from concerts, comedy shows theatrical performances and corporate events. Originally called "Second City Theater" the venue was home to a resident Second City comedy troup. After the departure of Second City the theater adopted its current name "City Theater" in 2004. City Theater is owned and operated by Olympia Entertainment.
The Gem Theatre in Detroit houses a two level theatre with traditional row and aisle seating and intimate stage-level seating at cabaret tables. It shares a lobby with the cabaret style Century Theatre . The theatre has stylings of Spanish Revival architecture. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.HistoryIn 1902, the Twentieth Century Club, a group of cultural, socially prominent women, built a Mission-style building to house their club. The building, now the Century Theatre, is built of red brick trimmed with white sandstone. The first floor originally housed a dining room, while the second floor housed a 400-seat auditorium.In 1928, the member of the Century club contracted George D. Mason to design a theater addition to the Century Club building. The resulting Spanish Revival-style building was leased to the Little Theatre chain, which showed foreign films, and the building was known as the Little Theatre.In 1933, due to the Depression, the Twentieth Century Club disbanded. The Little Theatre, however, continued, suffering through several name changes, becoming The Rivoli in 1932, Drury Lane (and then the Europa in 1935, the Cinema in 1936, and the Vanguard Playhouse in 1960. The Vanguard offered live theater rather than movies.Finally, in 1967, the theatre was named the Gem. The building was used as an adult movie house until it closed in 1978. Soon afterward, developer Charles Forbes purchased the combined Gem/Century building, and began a complete restoration of the Gem Theatre in 1990. The refurbished Gem opened in 1991.

Philip A. Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit, is a city plaza along the Detroit River. It is located more or less on the site at which Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac landed in 1701 when he founded Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit, the settlement that became Detroit. In 2011, the Detroit-Wayne County Port Authority opened its new cruise ship passenger terminal and dock at Hart Plaza, adjacent to the Renaissance Center, which receives major cruise ships such as the MS Hamburg and the Yorktown.The 14acre plaza, which is named for the late U.S. Senator Philip Hart, opened in 1975 and has a capacity for about 40,000 people. At the center of the plaza is the Horace E. Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain, designed by Isamu Noguchi and Walter Budd in 1978.HistoryThe area where Hart Plaza stands today is believed to be where Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac landed in 1701. The waterfront area became the main source of communication and transportation to the outside world until the inventions of the railroad and telegraph. By the mid 19th century this area was covered by docks, warehouses, and other industry, as was most of Detroit's waterfront of the time.It wasn't until 1890 that Hazen S. Pingree, Detroit's mayor at that time, suggested the location would be ideal for the creation of a waterfront center for city functions. However, the project was not carried through.

The Space Conveniently located off the I-75 freeway, and just minutes from Downtown and Midtown Detroit, The Eastern is a 5,000 square foot multi-use industrial space on Russell Street in the historic Eastern Market District. With its polished concrete floors, metal beam frame, and galvanized 18 foot steel ceilings, the generous floor plan can accommodate up to 300 person events. The Eastern includes 5,000 square feet of outdoor space, wi-fi access, and a wireless speaker system. Additionally, upon request, the venue offers valet parking, as well as vintage seating, tables, and displays. By fall 2015, an initial upgrade to the site will be completed, featuring a full built-out bar made from reclaimed materials and an outdoor patio with catering kitchen shed. Ideal for both public and private bookings, the venue lends itself to a variety of uses, hosting events such as holiday markets, art gallery openings, photo shoots, and weddings, to name a few. The History The site, formerly home to Hook and Ladder House No. 5 and the Detroit Fire Department Repair Shop, is inextricably associated with the development of Detroit’s professional fire department. Erected in 1888, Hook and Ladder House No. 5 is now the second oldest standing fire station in the city of Detroit. Architects William Malcomson and William Higginbotham received the commission for the station construction, and are known for several of Detroit’s early firehouses in Late Victorian styles. The building adjacent to House No. 5 was built on the site of the horse training track in 1917 to house the department’s central Repair Shop, and reflected the transition from horse-drawn to motorized vehicles. The north elevation of the Repair Shop is more utilitarian in nature, constructed with steel frames, reinforced concrete floors, faced in brick, and fenestrated with square industrial type windows. Specifically, The Eastern is located in the eighteen foot high one story section of the Repair Shop that was built primarily to house a fire truck wash room.
Letterpress studio in Detroit's historic Eastern Market that produces custom design work and printed matter. The capabilities of the shop include silkscreen, risograph, and digital archival printing. Our workshops, led by renowned instructors, include traditional and experimental printing, 'zine making, and bookbinding. Within the 3,000- sq. ft. space, film screenings, exhibitions, literary readings, design lectures, live music, and special curricular offerings are slated with a diversity of collaborators. Artist, typographer, designer, and educator, Megan O'Connell, is the proprietor.
