A Covenant Journey tour of Israel is unlike any other, as it is designed specifically to motivate its participants to discover and affirm their Christian identity through an experiential journey and educational experience of Biblical, historic, and modern Israel, providing participants with the ability to advocate for Israel upon their return. The tour will be built on the highly successful Birthright-Taglit model. Birthright is a nonprofit, educational organization that sponsors free ten-day heritage trips to Israel for Jewish young adults, aged 18–26, beginning in 1999. According to a prominent study undertaken by Brandeis University in 2013, Birthright participants are far more likely to have a greater engagement with their faith and see Israel in a positive light than those who did not participate. Covenant Journey participants will see and experience the amazing Biblical and historical sites in the Holy Land. The experience of witnessing the locations where Biblical events took place and where the foundations of Judeo-Christianity were laid has a profound effect on a person’s faith and understanding of the Bible that no other experience can match. Visiting the Holy Land – where Abraham journeyed and gave birth to the nation of Israel, David conquered Goliath, the Prophets and Apostles wrote and lived, and walking where Jesus walked – is, without question, a life-changing religious experience for a Christian. Application and Selection The first few inaugural Covenant Journey tours will consist of groups of 50 people, of which approximately 40 will be students from various Christian colleges and universities. All attendees will be prescreened. The prescreening will begin on the local college campuses. Applicants will first complete an application to determine their interest in going to Israel and to obtain background information. Covenant Journey will work directly with trusted and approved contacts on the college campuses, who will help identify eligible applicants. Each selected applicant will be offered an all-expense paid, 10- to 12-day tour to Israel originating from New York. Each applicant will be required to pay $500. Except for the $500, the tour is fully funded by Covenant Journey, and includes flights from New York to Tel-Aviv and back, hotel, transportation, and three meals per day. This does not include transportation to New York for flight or transportation to your hometown when returning.
