The Marjorie Barrick Museum is a museum located on the main campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, established in 1967. The museum was originally instituted as a natural history museum with a focus on the natural history and environment of Nevada and the broader Southwestern United States. In December 2011, the Barrick joined the UNLV College of Fine Arts and became the anchor of the Galleries at UNLV. The six galleries and one museum that make up the Galleries are each entities in their own right linked through a common administration. The Marjorie Barrick Museum, is a well-known venue for engaging exhibitions and events, and promotes engagement with the visual arts among a broad community including UNLV students, faculty, and staff; the greater Las Vegas community; and the national and international art community.HistoryThe founding of a natural history museum at the university—then an institution only a decade old, known as Nevada Southern University—began with a collection of specimens from the Desert Research Institute (DRI), the Nevada System of Higher Education's graduate research institute. In September 1967, the DRI opened a small museum facility in premises across from the university's grounds, as part of an expansion of DRI's activities into southern Nevada. The museum was created under the direction of archaeologist Richard H. Brooks, assistant research professor at the university and a researcher (later director) of the DRI-affiliated Nevada Archaeological Survey. Its exhibits consisted of DRI's local collection of living desert animal specimens and Native American artifacts.

Bone Infarct Foundation

2375 E Tropicana Ave, Ste 8
Las Vegas, NV 89119

(702) 448-3554

Bone Infarct is not as uncommon as you may think. It can be very aggressive with unbearable 24/7 pain even when laying still. This medical mystery occurs when bone tissue dies due to lack of blood supply to the affected tissue. Often there are no other symptoms than agonizing pain and the longer you have it, the worst the pain gets. Right now bone infarct is one of the hardest diseases to diagnose through any kind of testing. In fact some people will never be diagnosed. All tests can look totally normal for years. You might have a better chance of being diagnosed if the bone infarct is clustered together but that does not always reveal it either. There is nothing to see on the outside of the body either as to swelling or redness, just continuous pain to the affected area. This leaves everyone in the medical field puzzled, to the patient’s high degree of pain. This pain can raise your blood pressure into dangerous levels, adding more mystery. Doctors become unsure how to treat you. Even with the best insurance coverage this condition can financially break you with many failed test that shows nothing is wrong with you when there really is and prescriptions that don't work to ease the pain. This has got to be one of the most out of hand medical conditions there is. In fact because doctors have no answers they tell their patience this is a preexisting condition that they have and it has just gotten worst. It is not a doctor’s fault that they say this, because they depend on test for answers so they can treat you. But this answer that they now give there patience’s, places bone infarcts into too many other illnesses where it does not belong. Therefore bone infarct is not as uncommon as you might think. Also when it is not found in a healthy patience that has no preexisting conditions, doctors have no other explanation except, “some people just live in pain and we don’t know why, but your one of them.” There are many different bone infarcts and it depends on where it is located if there is anything that can be done for you. Then again for others, it depends if they were diagnosed in time. Right now it’s all uncertain, but were out to change that. A major fact is most doctors are not aware to even look for bone infarcts and when it is found they have heard of it but uncertain what to do, if anything at all. I have yet to find two doctors to agree. At the present time not much has been done about bone infarct and too many people are suffering as it hidden into many other illnesses. The Bone Infarct Foundation was founded to put an end to this nightmare, we need to spread the word so doctors are aware to look for it and patience’s are aware they may have it. Were all in need of better medical testing so everyone can be diagnosed and better pain control. This pain is bad enough to leave some patience’s bedridden. The things bone infarct victims need will help others with other medical conditions also. We’re moving forward to end bone infarct as fast as we can. So hopefully in the very near future everyone can say bone infarct was a thing in the past. We, AS IN ALL OF US need this foundation and I can’t emphasize it enough how necessary this is. Because right now whether healthy or not, bone infarct is already attacking its next victim and that can be anyone including you. Please donate a tax deductible gift today for this very worthy cause. Never will a donation be too small and it will always be thankful and welcomed for any help that is given. Also the faster everyone gives even just a little, the faster we can put an end to this bone infarct nightmare. Would you please consider giving today?
