Welcome to the Owl Creek Flies Facebook page! My name is Alyssa Halls, I'm the admin of this page and Co-Owner of OCF. I tie the majority of the flies for our business and also guide fly fishermen & women on the Bighorn River here in Thermopolis. My husband, Neil Strickland is Head Guide for our outfit, designs most of our specialty patterns, and helps me tie when we get large orders. We started out as Anadromy Fly Fishing on the Hoh River on Washington's Olympic Peninsula, ran a Winter Steelhead guide service (and a small fish camp) and tied specialty steelhead and salmon flies for Anglers across the United States as well as in our own backyard... literally. We had a tiny "fly shack" called the Hoh Humm Fly Shop where we sold Meiser Spey Rods (made on the Rogue River in Oregon), Speyco Click-Pawl Fly Reels (made in Green Bay, WI) and of course our favorite tubeflies, bunny flies, and spey flies. After four years of barely eeking by with a nearly nonexistant summer fishery, we lost our summer salmon season on the Hoh, and that was the last straw. We moved to the Bighorn Valley and started Owl Creek Flies, expanding our catalog to include our favorite patterns for trout and guiding anglers on the Big Horn River in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Neil lived and worked on the Bighorn in Ft. Smith, MT for a decade and had taken every opportunity to fish this stretch of the Iconic Bighorn during his time in Montana. We have spent the last two seasons getting to know this river inside and out so that we can provide our clientele with the best experience possible. We truly love this river and the trout that live here, and do our best to advocate proper handling of fish, the use of barbless hooks, and catch-and-release fishing with as little harm done as possible. Our flies are some of the most durable, beautiful, meticulously-tied, and effective patterns that money can buy. Every single one is tied to order by Neil and I, with the highest quality materials from Hareline Dubbin in Eugene, OR, Fishhunter Enterprises in Kent, WA, and White Fox Fur & Feather in Pemberton, MN, as well as our own hand-dyed fur and feathers. We use only the sharpest, strongest hooks from Daiichi, Gamakatsu, Mustad, and Kumoto. We take no shortcuts, and make no exceptions when it comes to quality. Our flies and tying tutorials have been featured on Moldy Chum, Frankenfly, Salmonfly.net, and the Tasty Bug Tying Series. We supply flies to the Klickitat Trader in Klickitat, WA, the Yellowstone Angler in Livingston, MT, and Fly Shop of the Bighorns in Sheridan, WY as well as to anglers like you through our online custom fly shop.
