Originally chartered in 1965 as Stewart & Stevenson Credit Union, Space City Credit Union serves the employees and family members of companies such as Stewart & Stevenson, General Electric, McCall Group, Rex Supply, and others (see web site for complete list). Space City CU also has community charters around each branch location which allows us to serve the communities around those branches. Additionally, in 2012, Space City CU merged with Independence Parkway FCU (formerly Soltex CU) and now serves employees of Solvay and Ineos, as well. What began as a small credit union with a handful of employees/members, now has grown to more than $70 million in assets and 8,0000 members. In 1935, 196 Shell Employees came together with $5 each and chartered Shell Employees Federal Credit Union with a total of $980 in assets. The UHD Gatorettes Dance Team is a new sports club in The University of Houston- Downtown's Sports and Fitness Department. University of Houston-Downtown Sports & Fitness serves as a vital and integral part of student life on campus. The mission of Sports & Fitness is to provide the university community with programs that offer vigorous, fun-filled, health-promoting, physical activity conducive to wellness and personal development. Sports & Fitness supports the mission of UHD by seeking to create a climate that motivates members to embrace a healthy life-style, which can enhance their academic studies, build friendships and social skills, develop leadership qualities, and cultivate a sense of ownership and belonging to the university. What We Do We provide prospective law school students of the University of Houston – Downtown knowledge and information regarding different law schools and programs, the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC), and the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT). In the past, the PLA has held LSAT group study sessions, attend official LSAC events, and provide networking and career internship opportunities.
