At Barron Chiropractic, we take pride in providing the finest care to our patients. Our goal is to help our patients achieve and maintain their optimum health potential so they can enjoy life without the stress of health concerns. We take a holistic approach to your healthcare, which means we choose not to use drugs or surgery to heal the body but utilize natural approaches to allow the body to heal on its own. We take the time to understand the stresses of your lifestyle and how they affect your activities, which may be limiting you from achieving and maintaining your optimum health potential. We enjoy seeing patients recover, often reaching higher levels of performance and wellness than they thought were possible.
At the Karel Lewit Clinic we adhere to the approach from the Czech School: “hearing and feeling the needs of the patient.” We combine quality-focused care with an evidence-based model. We choose our treatment based on individual patient goals, today’s known science and what we have found effective through our experience. Most importantly, we want to help eliminate your pain and teach you how to keep it from coming back.
“STREP THROAT” That is Dr. Dolan’s reply when asked what inspired her to become a chiropractor. You may wonder: “what in the world does strep throat have to do with chiropractic?” Antibiotics are the best medicine for strep throat, right? And if the antibiotics don't work, a tonsillectomy will. So, what does strep throat have to do with chiropractic? That is exactly what Dr. Dolan asked all those years ago when her chiropractor suggested she bring her frequently ill and strep-stricken son in for treatment. Truth be told, she thought the chiropractor might be nuts! After all, isn’t a chiropractor a back pain doctor? The chiropractor assured Dr. Dolan that chiropractic care would not hurt the boy and would actually improve his health. Dr. Dolan explains that she took what she considered to be a (huge) leap of faith and brought her son in for treatment. It was then that she was introduced to and amazed by the side effect-free, natural, healing power of chiropractic care. Chiropractic builds the body up and allows it to work as the creator intended. Chiropractic adjustments restore proper joint motion in the spine, through which the nervous system flows. Therefore, chiropractic adjustments affect the nervous system, the master controller of the body. Research shows that chiropractic adjustments also increase the production of white blood cells. White blood cells are part of the body’s immune system, used to fight off things like strep. A lot has happened in the years since the little boy suffered those repeated strep infections and frequent illnesses. Dr. Dolan made it her mission to share her newly found knowledge about the side effect-free, natural, healing power of chiropractic care with others who suffer needlessly. She returned to school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology in 2006 and her doctorate of chiropractic in 2008 from Logan University. She also earned a fellowship from the Acupuncture Society of America in 2008. Oh, and that little boy, her son who is now a teenager and not so little.… he still has his tonsils! Chiropractic saved him from surgery! In fact, he rarely gets sick and when he does the first thing we do is give him a chiropractic adjustment to boost his immune system.
Dr. Erica Patton was born and raised in Frontenac, Kansas. After high school, she moved to St. Charles, Missouri to attend Lindenwood University. There she received her undergraduate degree in Bachelors of Science in Biology. She was then accepted into the chiropractic program at Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri. There she earned an additional bachelor’s degree, Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. “As a young child I was always intrigued by chiropractic. My mother would bring me along to her appointments and I would sit in on the adjustments. I would observe and listen to the “popping” sound; it was like human bubble wrap! Yet, I never got adjusted myself. My whole childhood, I lived with chronic, sometimes debilitating, headaches. I was shuffled around between multiple doctors who put me on different medications to try and “treat” the headaches. Nothing seemed to really help or identify what exactly was causing them. After a little hesitation from my mother, and pleas on my behalf, I was finally treated with my very first chiropractic adjustment. The doctor told me there was likely an underlying cause that could be due to a subluxation, which is a big word to hear when you’re 9 years old. After being adjusted, I got off the table and said something my mother hadn't heard in a very long time, “my head doesn't hurt anymore!” The adjustments seemed like a miracle. Finally, there was a real answer to prevent my headaches and not just “treat” them. However, as much as the adjustments helped, I did not get to see my chiropractor regularly. His practice was in St. Louis, and I lived in Kansas. I continued on the medication and got adjusted when I could. At 10 years old I told my mother I was done. I was done taking medication that wasn't helping me. This moment is what I consider my first adult decision, and ultimately the driving factor to my decision to become a Doctor of Chiropractic. I have known since I was 10 years old that I wanted to help people the same way my chiropractor had helped me. In school I was always drawn to science classes. Learning about the human body in Anatomy & Physiology classes only solidified my decision to pursue becoming a chiropractor. I wanted to treat patients, but more than that, I wanted to look at the body as a whole. Chiropractic focuses on treating the underlying cause of a problem rather than the symptoms that are caused by it. When the nervous system is impaired through stress, illness or injury it can cause improper function of tissues and organs throughout the body. This chain reaction is known as the ‘Vertebral Subluxation Complex’. This is why Doctors of Chiropractic focus on the body as a whole- to help patients achieve optimal health. I have lived in St. Louis for seven years but I’m new to the Sunset Hills area. I am very excited to work with the surrounding community. I could not be more pleased to have the opportunity to get involved and support the public of Sunset Hills. It is my lifelong goal to help change people’s lives for the better with chiropractic care. Whether you’re young or old, male or female, an athlete or an office worker CHIROPRACTIC IS FOR YOU!
