Taboo Lounge Dallas

Dallas, TX 75207

Taboo Lounge is an eclectic speakeasy with an eye for art. There are Grecian statues near the front entrance, a stained-glass window in the back, and local artists' work blanketing the walls in between. The main space features exposed brick, ample seating, a well-lit bar area, and a healthy sized stage. The location and appearance is enough to give anyone pause. But if you take the plunge, you'll find that this lounge is an awesome, chilled-out space with an ultra-friendly staff and a rotating schedule of art shows, karaoke, and live music.

Dallas Contemporary, founded in 1978, is a contemporary art museum located in the Design District of Dallas, Texas.DescriptionDallas Contemporary is a non-collecting art museum presenting new and challenging ideas from regional, national and international artists. The institution is committed to engaging the public through exhibitions, lectures, educational programs, and events. The range and level of Dallas Contemporary’s programs serve audiences in the metropolitan Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond.Dallas Contemporary attracts visitors from the entire Southwest. Modeled after the European kunsthalle or art hall, it is one of the few institutions of its type in the United States.HistoryFounded by Patricia Meadows in 1978, Dallas Contemporary hosted annual exhibitions of artwork created by its members and offered rental exhibition space to emerging artists. It later expanded its mission to include exhibitions by nonmember artists from Texas. Dallas Contemporary has expanded its scope to embrace the entire spectrum of contemporary art, placing Texas artists in a worldwide context. In doing so, it strives to follow the European model of the kunsthalle, or art hall, a welcoming exhibition site for art of the moment. The museum is a non-collecting arts institution that commissions the creation of new artwork by emerging national and international contemporary artists. In 2010, Dallas Contemporary relocated to a 37,000 square foot building in the Dallas Design District, an emerging neighborhood 1.5 miles north of downtown.

Muzeion Gallery

Muzeion More than a gallery, it’s a state of mind. If art had a Hall of Fame, it would be what you see for sale at Muzeion. From ancient Egyptian sarcophagi to a stingray leather necklace with Aztec flint that belonged to the Matisse collection, Muzeion is a wonderland of one-of-a-kind art. With sculptures in bronze that seem to still be liquid, masks and terracotta figures that have silently watched the centuries come and go, and decorated human skulls that still resonate with energy, Muzeion literally brings the best of both contemporary and ancient worlds when it comes to art. Royal jewels, the emperor’s clothes, and gold figures from a time before Columbus sailed the ocean blue are comfortably hosted in a space that transcends time. Art outlives us. But we can foster it for a while on its journey. When you take home a piece from Muzeion, you are housing a piece of art that belongs to humanity, a piece with intrinsic value. Every piece at Muzeion comes backed with our in-house guarantee of quality and authenticity. Now you can rest assured that you are buying more than art when you make your purchases at Muzeion. You are taking home history. Depending on their provenance, some of our pieces come with passports, European community papers, and the results from thermoluminescence or carbon-14 testing done in Europe. Muzeion prides itself on offering unique art. Part of our heritage includes offering pieces available for purchase that have never been copied or duplicated. When you take home a piece of art from Muzeion, you are guaranteed a hand-made, unique piece. From pre-Columbian pieces to contemporary art, each piece is its own creation. Diversity sets us apart in a world of art that connects us. The pieces we offer for purchase at Muzeion come from all over the world and range from 2000 B.C. all the way to present day creations. We understand that the provenance of the pieces contributes value to the art itself. We offer museum quality pieces from renowned collections such as Matisse, Rockefeller, and Dr. Ruth Lax, as well as pieces that have been displayed in celebrated museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Very rarely does an accessory become iconography, where its incredible detail and unprecedented design is almost more paramount than the space’s entire aesthetic; very rarely does an accessory ever render you speechless, leaving you only to marvel at its intricate detail, its rarity and its utterly fascinating history. Empressive GeoDesigns creates extraordinary, functional art by combining geological minerals, semi-precious stones and fossils with the most outstanding hardware and incredibly high-quality shades. Garnering exclusive and rare specimens from all over the world including Australia, India, Brazil and Poland, Empressive GeoDesigns hand selects each specimen to ensure the best quality, integrity and tonal value of each geologic wonder.Once a specimen is chosen, it is drilled entirely through, from top to bottom, to ensure a consistent 360-degree view. After the meticulous procedure and polishing, it is delicately mounted on a marble, onyx or granite base. This attention to detail is unlike other manufacturing systems. The hardware finish can be brass, brass nickel plated, smoky chrome, smoky brass or 24K gold plated. This elevated form of design breaks the rigidly concrete standards of not only lamp construction but of art. Each lamp has a captivating story behind its geographic and geologic history. Some fossils used are aged from hundreds of millions of years ago, while others are enormous amethysts or emeralds that are found in some of the most gorgeous and secluded parts of the world.
