Southern States University is a nationally accredited American University founded in 1983 in Orange County. SSU has two campuses in San Diego and one in Newport Beach. The San Diego locations include campuses in Fashion Valley, Pacific Beach and La Jolla. Each campus has its own computer lab, student lounge, library and research center. Graduates receive a strong academic foundation through general education and introductory business courses combined with upper division courses geared toward today’s most relevant business issues. At each campus, SSU offers an English Program for international students studying with a student visa. This program is 18 to 30 hours per week, and is offered at eight levels of instruction – from beginner to advanced in reading, writing, grammar, conversation and pronunciation in the English language. It is registered with the State Bar of California and upon completing its online law degree program and passing the "Baby Bar" administered by the State Bar of California, students are issued a JD (Juris Doctorate). St. Francis was founded by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and attorneys. Its curriculum focuses on providing a practical legal education. Degrees offered A Juris Doctor (J.D.) law degree is currently the only degree offered. Students who pass the First-Year Law School Examination (FYLSX) and California Bar Examination and otherwise meet all requirements of the State Bar of California are eligible to be admitted to the State Bar of California and may practice law in California. The online J.D. program is a four-year program in which students must complete 48 weeks of instruction and 2 weeks of exams each year.
