Locally owned and operated since 2007, the Firefly Coffee House is proud to be your neighborhood coffee shop. Owner/entrepreneur Caitlin Parker had a vision of creating someplace in Santa Cruz that did not exist: a comfortable place that served amazing local coffee, tasty food, affordable prices, and a friendly atmosphere. So, in September of 2006 Caitlin and some great friends began construction in an old taxicab dispatch center. They didn’t have much money, and had zero construction skills….but they made it work. We may look a little eclectic, but every inch of this "little coffee shop that could" is founded on love, sweat, and laughs from our family and friends. Next came the people. They came from far and wide to gather round our fire. They found artists, business people, creative minds, families, and much more. These amazing people have made the Firefly what it is today. A place where all can come and be on a level playing ground. Just a little history. We are a family own and operating business that has been around since 1955 by my grandfather Martin Mendez Senior who opened the first location off the Alameda in San Jose, CA. We have been at the location in Santa Cruz, CA since 1975 when my father Martin Jr. Mendez, Martin Mendez Senior son, opened thee establishment. Hours: The hours of operation very from season to season. Were open everyday at 10:00 a.m. During late spring and summer till at least 9:00 p.m. or later. During the winter, till 8:00 p.m. give or take a half hour difference.
