Welcome to Nevada Student Care Nevada Student Care, Inc. (NSC) is a registered non profit tutoring and college preparation program. We are a community driven project targeting elementary, middle and high school students to pursue higher education. NSC is focused on improving the ratio of students going on to college, trade or technical schools in Nevada. NSC is centrally located at 906 S. Valley View Blvd. (Valley View & Charleston) and has been in business at this location since 2002. We have qualified instructors with years of experience teaching students in English, math, reading and science. We provide small class sizes with no more than 4 – 6 students per instructor to provide the individual attention needed for each student to succeed. We work to build a relationship with each student so they know we care. We have worked with all types of students, including special needs. Because of the desire of our instructors, coupled with the small class sizes, we have been very successful in helping hundreds of students in our community reach their goal of higher education. We have a team of highly qualified instructors who have a passion for helping students which makes our tutoring program the absolute best. The reason for our passion: According to the Nevada Public Education Foundation too few young people are ready by age 25 for college, work and life. Many of Nevada’s young people are unprepared for the challenges of young adulthood. Consider these sobering statistics: Nevada ranks LAST (among all 50 states and the District of Columbia) in the percentage of: * 18 - 24 year olds who are not high school graduates; * 16 - 19 year olds who are not enrolled in school and not working; * 18 – 24 year olds who have an associates or bachelor degree. For every 100 students that begin high school, 62 graduate in four years; 27 immediately enroll in higher education; 18 are still enrolled after one year; and only 10 complete a degree in four years. Additionally, many leave even before high school. Research indicates that young adults who are not “connected by 25″ to post secondary education and/or employment are likely to remain unconnected, imposing significant social and economic costs. The vast majority who are not connected include those who don’t complete high school; youth deeply involved in the juvenile justice system; young unmarried mothers; and adolescents in foster care. This study was done several years ago; unfortunately, for our children the percentages are even worse today. The newest percentages for graduation rates in Nevada are on our Nevada’s statistics page.

The Partnership Program began in 1983 as a pilot program with seven schools partnered with seven businesses. For more than twenty-five years, hundreds of thriving partnerships exist with a variety of businesses, organizations, agencies, and individuals bringing a diverse range of programs, activities, and experiences to Clark County School District (CCSD) students. Programs offered to students are curriculum-based with an emphasis on human resources. That is, fund-raising is not the focus of the program. Rather, the focus is on activities and experiences designed to supplement and support the curriculum of Clark County School District. Students, businesses, and organizations quickly realize that added exposure to each other provides a greatly expanded perspective.

That is why the classes taught at Pastry Palace cover a wide range of learning levels. Some students may have dabbled in decorating – learning from books, videos or other self-taught methods. Some may have attended schools of culinary arts and are seeking to specialize in the art of cake decorating. One thing that we can all agree upon is that whatever you currently know about cake decorating – there is always room for learning and improvement! So don’t be shy about providing us with an accurate self-assessment of your current skill level (see our Student Skill Assessment Form). This will simply allow us to place you in the appropriate class for your experience. If you have any questions about whether your skills match taking any specific courses, please give us a call. It’s no fun learning when you’re far behind – or fare ahead – of the steps being taught. So if cake decorating is your passion – let us help make it the most enjoyable learning experience possible.
