Star of Hope's Women & Family Emergency Shelter was built in 1989 and can house up to 300 guests in 71 rooms. The occupancy varies between 250 and 300 people daily, many of those served are children. Within this facility is a medical clinic, a licensed day care, pre-school area, teen activity room, and a computer learning center. Volunteer tutors come daily after school to tutor the children and help with homework and enrichment activities. Education is strongly encouraged with all guests.

We strive to hold firmly to the nostalgia and familiarity of existing plays and musicals by maintaining their integrity, while creating inventive aesthetics for each piece that give our patrons the ability to re-discover the titles they love. -The Kaleidoscope Theater offers unique and specialized training to Houston youth in all areas of theatre. Our Immersion Series gives students the opportunity to approach theatre education in a “learning by doing” setting, alongside industry professionals. Our company holds the goal of cultivating the development of new work specifically to be performed for or by students.

The Guild of the Houston Area Urban League is not a legal entity unto itself. It is an auxiliary operative under the rules and regulations of the National Urban League Guidelines for the operations of an Urban League Guild, and the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Affiliate to which the Guild is an auxiliary.
