CKDC offers a wide variety of dance classes to the public for every age and every technical level. It's never too late or too early to learn how to dance. CKDC is the only dance company in the St. Louis area that specializes in drop in classes for busy professionals. We offer a flexible schedule that fits into yours. CKDC is a 501(c)3 charitable corporation. All classes offered by our company of dancers and dance educators are the support structure for our performance company. We thank you for your business! We value motion as a mutual experience shared between all people. We embrace individuals who seek to live a balanced life through art and more specifically, dance. We provide a sanctuary for artists to reveal or rediscover their potential as movers. By offering a flexible curriculum, we strengthen the practice of dance and choreography while creating opportunities to pursue careers in the performing arts.
Ashleyliane Dance Company (ADC) is a professional performance organization under the artistic direction of Ashley L. Tate. ADC specializes in blending modern, jazz, and contemporary training with urban street dance. The Company offers outreach activities that include choreography, performances, master class instruction, workshops, and private lessons. ADC company dancers are all high school and college graduates or currently pursuing their degree in higher education. Since its inception in 2007, ADC has performed at a plethora of major events and private engagements, including but not limited to: the Muny, Fair St. Louis, First Night, Loop in Motion, Dancing in the Street, Casino Queen, Four Seasons Hotel and The Pageant. ADC has been featured on Fox 2 News,"Best of the STL" on STL TV, Show Me St. Louis, and the Nine Network and in Alive Magazine and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The company has produced a number of dance concerts at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA), Ivory Theatre, and Missouri History Museum, and the Edison Theatre. ADC has also served as entertainment for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, acting as crowd enthusiasts for 7 years. They have also been invited to perform at the Dance Chicago Festival, the American College Dance Association Covention, the University of Illinois-Chicago, the Pulse On Tour Dance Convention in Chicago and Las Vegas, and both Peridance Capezio Center and TADA! Theater in New York City. Ashleyliane Dance Company is committed to creating a comfortable atmosphere for adult dancers to continue learning and growing as artists and for young dancers to find their niche. The Company brings together dancers from all over the city, in turn creating a cohesive dance community.
STL Dance Lab is strictly a competitive dance company for dancers ages 10 - 18 years of age. It is home to the Nerd Herd Hip Hop Crew and Team 360. Grounded and built on the Nerds, the company focuses on educating and teaching our company members about dance technique, fundamentals, and exploration. For our Hip Hop crew, fundamentals in Hip Hop, popping, locking, housing, breaking, grooves, etc..., are all critical in the success of our company members when learning Hip Hop Choreography. Instilling this foundation in our members, allow us to keep our routines authentic to the dance, it's culture, and history, as it is performed in the streets. Our kids are trained and exposed to a variety of choreographers and opportunities in and around the St. Louis region. The company travels across the nation to compete or to continue with company education efforts, through Conventions and Master Classes. For our Team 360 company members, ballet technique sessions are held as it is the foundation of all dance, from there, contemporary and jazz technique sessions along with Acro sessions are held to elevate the capability of the company member and the pieces that are set on them. As with the Nerd company, Team360 enjoys attending both local and regional venues to compete or attend conventions for the purpose of education. Tango, waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha-cha, rumba, salsa, Argentine tango... these are names representing some of the 29 styles of ballroom dance that are performed in competitions and danced at social gatherings and night clubs around the world. Studies show ballroom dancing provides a positive and youthful environment for people of all ages. Not only is ballroom dancing a cultural event, it's also a form of exercise that improves one's health and mind by teaching social skills, fall prevention, balance, musicality, concentration, and sequential memory. Ballroom dancing is truly an inter-generational lifelong activity that can be enjoyed and participated in by everyone. Come join us. Troy's main focus will be to showcase local jazz musicians by giving them a platform to perform the type of music that moves the artists. We seek to offer a quality experience for our patrons while providing an outlet for talented and explosive musicians to collaborate as well as an outlet for newcomers to prove their showmanship without limits. Troy's will educate, promote and encourage musicians to go beyond the written music and jam outside of the box. Our goal is to attract serious music enthusiasts while keeping chit chat at a minimum. We want to be more than a fad, but a new tradition in St. Louis. Help us build a landmark and create a new era of musical legends.
The Improv Shop aims to create original, dynamic and fun shows using the tools of Chicago-style improv. Its training program is the only multi-level program of its kind in the city and is accessible to students of all ability and skill levels. Improv training is a powerful and necessary tool for the working actor, a fun way to become a more confident public speaker, and an exciting means of self-expression.
The theaters at Chase Park Plaza Cinemas consist of five intimate auditoriums with luxury seating, all-digital sound systems and state of the art digital projection. This unparalleled design and composition effectively sets a new standard for the St. Louis cinematic experience. Renowned architect Salim Rangwala, in conjunction with innovative cinema operator Harman Moseley, worked together with nationally recognized artist Dick Godwin to transform the former Chase Club into five modern day atmospheric theaters. With a stadium seating "presentation theatre" and trompe I'eoil masterpiece in each auditorium, the Chase Park Plaza Cinemas are high tech representations of the Hollywood studios' great screening rooms of the past. This unique cinema concept is now offered for the first time to the discerning movie going public at the extraordinary redevelopment of a St. Louis landmark, the one and only Chase Park Plaza.
Third Degree functions as an artists' studio, education center, fine art gallery, and event space. We invite the public to stop by and see what our artists are up to, browse our gallery for that perfect piece to take home with you, or sign up for a class or workshop on: glassblowing, kilnworkiing, and flameworking (beadmaking). We also offer private demonstrations and lessons to small groups. Consider hosting your next wedding reception, private party, corporate event, or fashion show with us.
Let's Make a Scene is a raucous and interactive short form show that combines equal parts Whose Line Is It Anyway with such game show favorites as Match Game and Family Feud. Join us as our panel of zany performers play a cavalcade of games in an effort to win points on behalf of selected audience members; all for a chance to win valuable prizes!! Each and Every Tuesday Night it's the most versatile and creative Open Mics in St. Louis! Hosted by InnerGy (poet, model, actress and comedian!) It GOES DOWN on Tuesdays, where we hit the stage with poetic flows and musical musings, ensuring that our audience is in just the right mood for entertainment!
