116th Street–Columbia University is a local station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway, served by the 1 train at all times. It is located at the intersection of Broadway and 116th Street, just outside the west gate to the main campus of Columbia University and the southeast corner of the Barnard College campus. The express track that passes through the station is currently unused in revenue service.Station layoutThe 116th Street–Columbia University station is laid out in a typical local stop setup. There are two side platforms and three tracks, the center one being an unused express track. The southbound local track is technically known as BB1 while the northbound one is BB4; the BB designation is used for chaining purposes along the Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line from 96th Street to 242nd Street. Although it cannot be accessed at 116th Street–Columbia University, the center track is designated as M. It is important to note that these designations are rarely, if ever, used in ordinary conversation. Unlike most local stops, there is a crossover at the station. There is also an exit-only near the southern end of the northbound platform that leads to the east side of Broadway at 115th Street, outside the Alfred Lerner Hall.

Miller Theatre at Columbia University is the leading presenter of new music in New York City and one of the most vital forces nationwide for innovative programming. In partnership with Columbia University School of the Arts, Miller is dedicated to producing and presenting unique events, with a focus on contemporary and early music, jazz, opera, and multimedia performances. Founded in 1988, Miller Theatre has helped launch the careers of myriad composers and ensembles, serving as an incubator for emerging artists and a champion of those not yet well known in the United States. A four-time recipient of the ASCAP/Chamber Music America Award for Adventurous Programming, Miller Theatre continues to meet the high expectations set forth by its founders—to present innovative programs, support the development of new work, and connect creative artists with adventurous audiences.

Alfred Lerner Hall is the student center or students' union of Columbia University. It is named for Al Lerner, who financed part of its construction. Situated on the university's historic Morningside Heights campus in New York City, the building, designed by deconstructivist architect Bernard Tschumi, then dean of Columbia's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, opened in 1999, replacing the previous student center, Ferris Booth Hall, which stood from 1960-1996. The cafeteria in Lerner Hall still bears the name of Ferris Booth, and unlike the other large cafeteria on campus in John Jay, Ferris Booth utilizes only plastic silverware and paper plates. The building attempts to both conform to its context of neoclassical McKim, Mead, and White buildings as well as break out of their mold. In so doing, Lerner Hall features redbrick cladding and proportions that hold the street wall of university buildings along Broadway, but reveals a vast glass wall to the campus fabricated by Eiffel Constructions Metalliques, descendant of the firm that built the Eiffel Tower. Behind the wall are a series of escalating ramps that give the building a unified sense of space and are meant to act as a social meeting place much like the steps of Low Memorial Library.

The School of General Studies (GS) is the undergraduate college at Columbia University specifically dedicated to students taking a nontraditional path to a traditional, rigorous, Ivy League education. GS students include students with work or life experience, students completing a second bachelor’s degree, and students enrolled in a dual- or joint-degree program. GS is also home to the oldest and largest Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program in the United States.

Columbia University Herbert and Florence Irving Medical Center is an academic medical center and the largest campuses of New York-Presbyterian Hospital. It includes Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons, College of Dental Medicine, School of Nursing and Mailman School of Public Health, as well as the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, the New York State Psychiatric Institute, the Audubon Biomedical Research Park, and numerous other institutions.The campus covers several blocks - primarily between West 165th and 169th Streets from Riverside Drive to Audubon Avenue - in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.CUMC was built in the 1920s on the site of Hilltop Park, the one-time home stadium of the New York Yankees. The land was donated by Edward Harkness, who also donated much of the cost of the original buildings. Built specifically to house a medical school and Presbyterian Hospital, it was the first academic medical center in the world. Formerly known as the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, the name change followed the 1997 formation of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, a merger of two medical centers each affiliated with an Ivy League university: Columbia-Presbyterian with Columbia University, and the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, with Cornell University's Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dual BA Program students begin their studies in France at one of three Sciences Po campuses, each of which is devoted to a particular region of the world: Le Havre (Asia), Menton (Mediterranean countries and the Middle East), or Reims (North America). The Department of Music at Columbia is one of the oldest and most distinguished at any American university. It was founded in 1896 by Edward MacDowell (1860-1908). Although MacDowell remained at Columbia for only eight years, his remarkable vision for the place of music in a liberal arts institution still influences us today, as we pursue a 21st century vision for music scholarship, performance, and education. MacDowell saw a dual role for musical education at Columbia, and accordingly he divided the earliest courses into two groups: general musical culture and technical training. The legacy of the former group includes Music Humanities, part of Columbia’s Core Curriculum since the 1940’s (and still going strong), as well as the many courses in Western and non-Western repertories offered today for students from all disciplines. Entering its next century, the Music Department maintains and has even expanded its disciplinary depth and diversity. In a recent survey of graduate programs in music in the U.S., Columbia’s was one of only a dozen rated “distinguished.” Graduate applications have more than doubled in six years. Our faculty and students continue to win the most coveted fellowships and awards, from such agencies or organizations as the Guggenheim Foundation, Fulbright, the NEA, the NSF, the Social Science Research Council, the NEH, ASCAP, and the American Academy in Rome, among many others. The number of undergraduates majoring in music at Columbia has grown sharply over the past decade. Music Humanities continues to attract nearly 700 students every semester. The University Orchestra has toured to great acclaim. Each year the Department’s Music Performance Program enables hundreds of students to receive academic credit for lessons and chamber ensembles, including jazz; their teachers are among the best musicians in New York. Columbia has also broadened musical opportunities for its students through an innovative exchange program with the Juilliard School; qualified students at either institution can enroll for courses or lessons for credit at the other. These are just some of the ways in which Music at Columbia thrives today.

A community of alumnae 35,000 strong. The Alumnae Association of Barnard College (AABC) is comprised of all graduates of the College and former students who have completed at least one year of undergraduate study and who have left Barnard in good standing. The AABC is an independent 501(c)(3) that works in partnership with the Alumnae Relations office of Barnard College. AABC Mission: The purpose of the Alumnae Association shall be to further the interests of Barnard College and to promote a spirit of fellowship among its alumnae. AABC Vision: Each alumna will feel a connection to the College and a significant number of alumnae will want to serve the College by supporting its fundraising efforts, advocating for Barnard, and/or participating in the programs of the Alumnae Association of the College.
