One bright morning, Tower Grove East resident Paul Whitsitt found himself staring down said broken coffee pot, then having to climb into his car and drive several miles to get an early morning brew for himself and partner David Rodgers. And thus the idea for Kitchen House Coffee was born: TGE needed its own neighborhood place. A place committed to local, freshly sourced product; a place where the baristas will remember you— and your partner and best friend and father and daughter and dog— by name. The coffee house is an extension of Whitsitt and Rodgers' urban farm on Michigan Avenue, Kitchen House Farm, named for the old kitchen house that still stands on the property. The vision for Kitchen House Coffee is centered around the idea of finding a country respite in the city— a repurposed, urban space focused on sustainable product. All of our coffee, tea, pastry and foodstuffs come from STL city businesses. Plus we’ve got organic, in-house pressed juices. And fresh cut flowers. And chickens out back. Yes, chickens. Urban. Farm. Home. This is what Kitchen House Coffee means to us. We can’t wait to welcome you in.

Voted St. Louis's best hot dogs & mac in cheese in the Riverfront Times! We are St. Louis's premier hot dog joint - legendary because of our amazing tastes and creative food collaborations. The Tower Grove location opened after fans and customers helped raise $15,000 to renovate the space. The location opened in collaboration with Tick Tock Tavern - a St Louis classic that shares the space - offering a vintage setting and incredible hand-crafted drinks. We take the time to hickory smoke all of our dogs and sausages. Then we open fire grill them for a very unique taste. We also serve soups, chili and a delicious smoked Italian Pit Beef sandwich! Lona's Lil Eats
Distance: 0.4 mi Competitive Analysis
2199 California Ave
St. Louis, MO 63104

(314) 925-8938

Lona’s LiL Eats is home to the Giant Rice Paper Wrap. We specialize in fresh Asian cuisine with a soul-food flare. We focus on more than just flavor; we focus on feeling and physical sensation. We use fresh ingredients just chopped, absolutely NO MSG, make all our seasonings and sauces from scratch- from peeling the garlic, roasting peanuts, on up. Our food is filling, but won’t leave one feeling heavy, with flavors so grounded in excitement that the last bite is the most delicious, for real! Lona’s LiL Eats began in 2008 as an experimental project using just one gas-grill in Soulard Farmers Market. The name, Lona’s LiL (little) Eats, is a literal translation from Chinese for roughly “a hole-in-the-wall selling stop-and-go food place.” The original intention was to bring a hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant into the Market. Well not really Thai in any familiar sense, but this is the United States- you gotta have an eye-catcher! While the stand at Soulard Farmers Market remains open every Saturday lunch, we now have a brick-and-mortar shop that owners Pierce and Lona live above with their two children Jane and Daniel. The menu comprises of options that were formed organically through participation with Soulard Farmers Market patrons. So while Lona’s LiL Eats serves food in several novel forms, these forms were not creations obsessively planned, but rather obsessively intuited from the social experience between Lona, Pierce, and creative (demanding? Is there a difference?) fans.

Ices Plain & Fancy is St. Louis' Nitro Ice Cream Parlor - Serving the finest quality ice cream, flash-churned to order using liquid nitrogen. Visit us in the historic Shaw Neighborhood of St. Louis to taste our Classic Nitro Ice Cream, Fancy Ices, Boozy Ice Cream Cocktails, Non-Dairy Offerings, Seasonal Sorbets, Floats, Soft Serve, and more! Flash-churning our Nitro Ice Creams at -321 degrees is not only exciting to watch, but also forms very small ice crystals for a supremely smooth texture that can’t be duplicated with traditional slow-churning methods. We also have very little “overrun” – an ice cream term for the amount of air whipped into the mixture. The end result that emerges from the nitro cloud? A silky, dense, decadent treat that you will never forget! We use only the finest ingredients, from our premium ice cream to our rich Belgian Chocolate. This assures that in addition to the nitro process being fun to watch, the end result is a product of the highest quality. Partnerships with local farmers keep our seasonal offerings as fresh as possible. Our chef balances and crafts each fl avor with a sense of adventure, whimsy and nostalgia to produce ice cream treats that will have you and your friends talking!
