Lavelle Woodworking Studio is owned and operated by Miranda & Zach Lavelle and was born out of the desire to create and build custom furniture pieces. When we bought a new house we had trouble finding the style of furniture that we liked and when we found something we did like it was either cheaply made or was overpriced for a mediocre piece. We knew that we could design and build the pieces we wanted at a cheaper price, that were quality, will last for generations, soft to the touch, and showed the natural beauty that wood offers. Neither one of us come from a design or woodworking background and we are not what would be considered 'Classically' trained. Instead the pieces you see here come from many hours of practice and learning from the 'Masters of Woodworking'. We approach our designing and construction of furniture with the mindset that it should be an item that you not only want to sit on, around, use but also is one that invites you to touch it and look at it. There is not one spot on the furniture that is not left untouched or is overlooked. The smallest details on, most of the pieces, are usually the ones that take the most time and are usually in the spots where most people do not notice. However, those small details are usually the most important parts that allow a piece of furniture to look, feel, and function the way we intend it to. Our designs of custom furniture is influenced by what can be found in nature, providing an organic look and feel to the pieces. Our designs are also influenced by Master Woodworkers Sam Maloof, George Nakashima, James Krenov, and others. They each had their own methods but the end results were all the same. Pieces that are elegant, invite you to touch, functional, and showcase the natural beauty of wood. We believe in the same principles as well. Please reach out to us here or by phone if you are interested in any of our current pieces or if you have something else you wish to have made custom for you. We look forward to working with you on designing the perfect piece you are looking for. We also understand that there may be furniture that has been in your family for generations or may be a garage sale find that needs a little TLC. We also offer refinishing and repair services for any wood item you may have. Whether it is an old rocking chair, table, stool, wood toy it does not matter. We will work with you and provide you an cost estimate and timeline for how long a repair or refinishing will take. We understand that these items are a family treasure and we hope that we can help future generations of your family enjoy them as well. Thank You, ~Miranda and Zach Lavelle ~Lavelle Woodworking Studio
