The Center for Sex Positive Culture, formerly known as The Wet Spot, is a non-profit, membership-based organization located in Seattle, Washington. It organizes events and provides space for several different sex-positive subcultures, notably BDSM, Swinging, and polyamory groups. CSPC welcomes people of all sexual identities and seeks to encompass all consensual sexual practices The Center is a 501 recreational club; its sister organization, the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture is a 501 charitable/educational organization.The organization held its first event, a fundraiser, in March 1999.Mission and visionThe mission statement of the Center for Sex Positive Culture: The Center for Sex Positive Culture encourages the exploration and celebration of the many facets of human sexuality. Through an encompassing variety of events, created by and for its membership, the CSPC seeks to educate, to facilitate consensual open sexual expression and dialog, and to provide a venue for fellowship and community.The vision statement of the Center for Sex Positive Culture: As proponents of sex positive culture, we believe that the appropriate uses of sex extend beyond reproduction. They include creating personal pleasure, bonding interpersonal relationships, promoting spiritual growth, and enhancing emotional and physical health. In a sex positive world, everyone has the freedom and resources to pursue a fulfilling and empowering sex life.Membership and activitiesThe CSPC's primary location is a nondescript 10,000sqft group of buildings in Seattle's Interbay district. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has attended an orientation class and agrees to the organization's rules of conduct. There is also an annual membership fee. Volunteers organize and run most events.
Queen Anne Boulevard is a 6.0km loop atop Seattle, Washington's Queen Anne Hill. It is a City of Seattle landmark. Authorized in 1907 and built from 1911 to 1916, it incorporates parts of 5th, 7th, 8th and 10th Avenues West; Bigelow Avenue North; West Blaine, McGraw, Wheeler, Fulton and Raye Streets; Smith, McGraw, and Wheeler Streets; West Highland Drive; and West McGraw and McGraw Places.HistoryBy 1906, the southern portions of Queen Anne Hill were already well connected to downtown Seattle by streetcar routes, but portions of the hill remained relatively inaccessible. The local community club approached the Parks Board to propose a scenic route ringing the hill. The Park Board was not initially enthused. The proposed route was not part of the then recently developed "Olmsted Plan" for Boulevards and Parkways, and the proposed route along standard city streets did not seem to offer the 150ft width that had been established as a standard for boulevards, to allow park-like landscaping.On the other hand, nearly the entire route offered spectacular views. A deal was struck: the community would agree to pay for the private property that would have to be obtained to widen the streets (including land that would need to be filled or excavated); City Engineer R. H. Thomson would be responsible for contracts and would deal with any necessary regrading of cross streets; the boulevard would eventually be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Park Department, which would landscape and surface the street. A 1907 ordinance authorized this plan and in 1908 it was incorporated into the Olmsted Plan, but in 1910 the project was still mired in lawsuits over land condemnation.
Kerry Park is a 1.26acre park on the south slope of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, Washington, located at the corner of 2nd Avenue W. and W. Highland Drive. According to a plaque on a wall in the park, "Kerry Park given to the City in 1927 by Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sperry Kerry, Sr., so that all who stop here may enjoy this view." That view encompasses downtown Seattle, Elliott Bay, the West Seattle peninsula, Bainbridge Island, and Mount Rainier.The park is sometimes incorrectly referred to by local denizens as Highland Park, a reference to Highland Drive, a highly scenic boulevard that borders the north side of the park.Changing Form, a steel sculpture by artist Doris Totten Chase and given by Mr. and Mrs. Kerry's 3 children, stands 4.6m high in the middle of the park. Since installation in 1971, the sculpture has been popular among photographers using it to frame the Seattle skyline or Mt Rainier, and children crawling around its smooth, black curves.The park was one of the many stops on the finale episode of the third season of Amazing Race. The park was also featured as the opening scene in the 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You.
