The David H. Koch Theater is located on the south side of the main plaza of Lincoln Center, adjacent to the Metropolitan Opera House and Avery Fisher Hall. The Theater is home to the New York City Ballet, was designed by architect Philip Johnson and opened on April 23, 1964. The Theater is owned by the City of New York, which has given funds for its refurbishment and which provides an operating subsidy through the Department of Cultural Affairs. The Theater is managed by City Center of Music and Drama, Inc. The 7,875 square foot PROMENADE area features inlaid Travertine marble floors, forty-foot gold leaf ceilings, dramatic spiral staircases and balconies overlooking the fountain in the Plaza of Lincoln Center. The Auditorium seats 2,586 with five Ring levels studded with "jewel" faceted lights. An immense spherical chandelier is the centerpiece of the ornately paneled gold ceiling. History The New York State Theater was built with funds from the State of New York as part of New York State's cultural participation in the 1964–1965 World's Fair. The theater was designed by architect Philip Johnson and opened on April 23, 1964. After the Fair, the State transferred ownership of the theater to the City of New York. The theater is home to the New York City Ballet, and was the former home of the New York City Opera. Along with the opera and ballet, an early tenant of the theater was the Music Theater of Lincoln Center. Richard Rodgers was its president, and during his tenure many classic Broadway musicals were revived there in the 1960s. Among them were The King and I, Carousel (with its original star, John Raitt), Annie Get Your Gun (with its original star, Ethel Merman), Show Boat, and South Pacific. In July 2008, philanthropist David H. Koch pledged to provide $100 million over the next 10 years for the purpose of renovating the theater and providing for an operating and maintenance endowment. It was renamed the David H. Koch Theater at the New York City Ballet Winter gala, Tuesday, November 25, of that year.
The Metropolitan Opera, commonly referred to as "The Met", is a company based in New York City, resident at the Metropolitan Opera House at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The company is operated by the non-profit Metropolitan Opera Association, with Peter Gelb as general manager. The music director position is in transition as of 2016. The music director designate is Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the music director emeritus is James Levine.The Met was founded in 1880 as an alternative to the previously established Academy of Music opera house, and debuted in 1883 in a new building on 39th and Broadway (now known as the "Old Met").The Metropolitan Opera is the largest classical music organization in North America. It presents about 27 different operas each year in a season which lasts from late September through May. The operas are presented in a rotating repertory schedule with up to seven performances of four different works staged each week. Moving to the new Lincoln Center location in 1966, performances are given in the evening Monday through Saturday with a matinée on Saturday. Several operas are presented in new productions each season. Sometimes these are borrowed from or shared with other opera houses. The rest of the year's operas are given in revivals of productions from previous seasons. The 2015-16 season comprised 227 performances of 25 operas.
Time Warner Center is a twin-tower building developed by The Related Companies and AREA Property Partners (formerly known as Apollo Real Estate Advisors) in New York City. Its design, by David Childs and Mustafa Kemal Abadan of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, consists of two 750 ft (229 m) twin towers bridged by a multi-story atrium containing upscale retail shops. Construction began in November 2000, following the demolition of the New York Coliseum, and a topping-out ceremony was held on February 27, 2003. The property had the highest-listed market value in New York City, $1.1 billion, in 2006. Originally constructed as the AOL Time Warner Center, the building encircles the western side of Columbus Circle and straddles the border between Midtown and the Upper West Side. The total floor area of 2.8e6ft2 is divided between offices (notably the offices of Time Warner Inc. and an R&D Center for VMware), residential condominiums, and the Mandarin Oriental, New York hotel. The Shops at Columbus Circle is an upscale shopping mall located in a curving arcade at the base of the building, with a large Whole Foods Market grocery store in the basement.

We do small group training, practical one-on-one training, and even nutritional counseling. Based mostly in Manhattan and the Bronx, we will travel to you with our equipment (destination permitting). Located near Central Park West between 71st and 74th Streets, Strawberry Fields is a 2.5 acre area of Central Park that pays tribute to the late Beatle, John Lennon, singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist. John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono lived in the Dakota Apartments adjacently located to this area of the park. It was here, walking into his home, on December 8, 1980, that John Lennon was murdered and shot dead. To commemorate his life, talents and memory, on March 26, 1981, City Council Member Henry J. Stern designated this area, the couple's favorite in Central Park, as Strawberry Fields. Named after the title of the Beatles' song "Strawberry Fields Forever," the teardrop shaped region was re-landscaped by the Central Park Conservancy with the help of landscape architect Bruce Kelley and a generous $1 million donation from Yoko Ono. Visit Strawberry Fields on one of our Central Park horse and carriage tours, bike tours, pedicab tours, or walking tours. The iconic black and white Imagine mosaic, designed by a team of artists from the Italian city of Naples, lies in the center of Strawberry Fields. Named after another famous song by John Lennon, "Imagine" evokes a vision and hope for a world without strife, war and conflict. Additionally, there is a bronze plaque that lists the more than 120 countries that planted flowers and donated money for the maintenance of the area; they have also endorsed Strawberry Fields as a Garden of Peace. DeWitt Clinton Park is on the far western edge of Hell's Kitchen. Originally the site of two productive farmsteads, the city acquired it for parkland in 1910 and transformed it into New York's first children's teaching garden for local underprivileged youth. At least a decade ago local volunteers saw opportunities for restoring the untended 14 foot green strip that forms a U around the perimeter of the park and surrounds the playing fields. It is forested with regularly spaced mature London Plane trees. The 50 yard long Rose Garden grows within the northeast corner of this green buffer. This spring we have added lupines, poppies, columbine, black eyed susans, Scottish thistle and phlox.
The garden was created in 1978 by Hell's Kitchen residents who cleared out the rubble from a long-vacant lot and began planting it with flowers, herbs, fruits, and vegetables. The garden is organized into two main sections. There is a Front Garden and a Back Garden. The Front Garden is open to the public, key holders as well as visitors who may ask to be let in if the gate is closed. When visiting the garden, please respect our rules, posted on the front bulletin board. The Clinton Community Garden, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization managed by a steering committee composed of gardeners elected at our annual membership meeting held the first Tuesday in March. Check the bulletin board for exact time, location, and date. The garden is licensed by the New York City Parks Department through GreenThumb and is open to key holders from approximately post-sunrise to pre-sunset 365 days a year, depending upon weather, darkness, and time of year*.
