Graduate students provide individualized services under the guidance and supervision of state-licensed and nationally certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists. The clinic uses a variety of assessment tools, including standardized and non-standardized tests, and procedures developed by students and faculty. When planning treatment, we keep family, caregiver, and client preferences in mind, and use an evidence-based practice approach. The UWSHC supports equitable treatment of clients. No individual shall be discriminated against based upon race or ethnicity, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation. As a patient or client at the UWSHC), you have certain basic rights and responsibilities. We provide all services in a manner consistent with the American Speech Language and Hearing Association Code of Ethics.
The CASC team, comprised of speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists, partner with families and other team members to provide highly specialized, cutting edge augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and computer access services for children and adults who are experiencing significant communication difficulties. CASC provides services for people of all ages who have a range of disabilities that include: Amytotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), spinal cord injuries, aphasia, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), cerebral palsy (CP), autism, Rett syndrome, Down syndrome, and multiple disabilities. CASC's primary activities focus on providing outpatient services though bedside assistance is also provided for inpatients that require specialized communication services.
