My passion for photography is wide and deep. I love the spontaneous and ephemeral nature of my darkroom project, which results in non-objective images. I also love photographing real life -- connecting with and responding to the people and environments that I photograph. My style is to document the small, the valuable, and the beautiful moments as they naturally happen--allowing people to be alive in the experience. Since graduating with a bachelor's in journalism from Mizzou, I have been photographing journalism, portraits, weddings, travel, nature, and street life. I have published images from September 11th in _The Australian_ newspaper, _Paris Match_ magazine, Blueeyes Magazine.com, and the book, "Here is New York: A Democracy of Photographs," one of which was highlighted in book reviews on Salon.com and National Review Online. I also have a lot of experience in the production side of photography, having been the photo editor of Yoga Journal magazine, the photo producer for Red Envelope (a gift catalog company), and the studio manager for Burt Glinn, a Magnum photographer. I have taught art, photography, and design at both the secondary and university levels.
