The Denver Inner City Parish (DICP) was established in 1960. Although begun under the aegis of several Protestant churches, the Parish is a non-denominational, human service nonprofit organization. The Parish has many programs that focus on improving the quality of life for low-income, primarily Latino/Latina residents of the Denver Metro Area. DICP encourages community members to shape the agency’s mission. Our programs originally served La Alma, Lincoln Park and Baker neighborhoods. With the gentrification of this area, however, many low income Latino families now live in other parts of the Denver Metro Area. Program participants travel from neighborhoods such as Commerce City, Aurora, and Lakewood. Many participants express that they still feel this neighborhood is their home and that DICP provides a sense of community. Many of our employees and volunteers were once participants at the Parish, several of our students at the school had parents who attended many years before, and some of our Seniors have children and grandchildren who attend Parish programs. While we celebrate 53 years of service to our community, there is always a need for our programs. Over the past five decades the programs have occasionally changed faces, but have always been focused on the purpose of improving the quality of life for youth, Seniors, and families.

Julia's was born from the counseling experience of Father Regis Scanlon, O.F.M.Cap, who would talk to women who were homeless but motivated to rediscover their self sufficiency. "We have nowhere to go!" they told him. In fact, there are many transitional and temporary homes for every category of homeless person but the single, unaccompanied woman. Julia's is for her. We offer a family-style home where each woman can stay until she has learned the job and life skills she needs to go back out into the world. Julia's launched in August 2013 in a pilot program in Arvada, CO, and in August 2015 expanded to a larger home, also in the Denver metro area.

Bikram’s Beginning Yoga Class is a demanding series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises practiced in a heated room, which is suitable for all ages and levels of ability. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments, and joints needed for the next posture. The Bikram method also systematically stimulates the organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100% of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order. Bikram yoga promotes the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body in order to prevent illness and injury, promote weight loss, and limit the effects of aging. The series of postures combines skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control, that increase mental clarity and reduce stress. Bikram yoga is done in a heated room to warm your muscles, prevent injury, allow a deeper workout and cleanse the body by flushing toxins.
Mile High Stadium was an outdoor multi-purpose stadium in the western United States, located in Denver, Colorado. It was built in 1948 for the Denver Bears baseball team, which was a member of the Western League during its construction. Originally designed as a baseball venue, the stadium was expanded in later years to accommodate the addition of a professional football team to the city, the Denver Broncos, as well as to improve Denver's hopes of landing a Major League Baseball team. Although the stadium was originally built as a baseball-specific venue, it became more popular as a pro-football stadium despite hosting both sports for a majority of its life. The Broncos called Mile High Stadium home from their beginning in the AFL in 1960 until 2000. The Bears, who changed their name to the Zephyrs in 1985, continued to play in the stadium until 1992 when the franchise was moved to New Orleans. The move was precipitated by the awarding of a Major League Baseball franchise to the city of Denver, and in 1993 the Colorado Rockies season opened in Mile High. The team played the 1993 and strike-shortened 1994 seasons in Mile High setting MLB attendance records while Coors Field was being constructed in downtown Denver.
