Tuesday Night Grooves is a Bi-weekly event. It is what I will call an open jam format that is slightly different from a traditional open mic. This is more of a place to mix and match musicians and styles and get some free form grooves going. This is a brand new thing so the format might morph slowly into its final iteration over time but it will start out with the following format and ideals. sign up at 8pm.And i will do my best to get everyone organized to keep the jams going and insure that everyone gets in on some tasty goodness together we can mix and match people and styles for maximum excellence. The jams will start at 9pm and go until we stop. Ideals: This is a groove oriented event that is focused on rhythm and percussion. While everyone can enjoy some good old singer songwriter stuff or spoken word and whatnot, our focus here is creative collaboration in the jazz tradition but not necessarily jazz. There are plenty of other venues to go and strum away. all musicians will be respected for there practiced pieces and out of respect for musicians during the open jams peoples should will be mixed to create equality and good sound. This statement is particularly aimed at guitarists who like to smash there way out into the front sound wise. If you are a guitarist who wants to lead the band then this isn't the place for you. there is a time and a place for guitar driven music but this aint it. Grooves rule the day here. There will be a PA system and a drum kit for your playing pleasure. All alternate percussion is welcome and encouraged. dust off your brass and tune up your strings and skins.... Come on down and get into the jam. Mikey G

Established in 2012 After working in classic barbershops and salons in the downtown Oakland area for the past fifteen years, Damion Hunter has finally branched out to answer a dream referred by opening Megah Brown's: Your Local Barbershop and More... Megah; a nickname he received while attending Berkeley High School in 1992, and Brown so happens to be his favorite color. The combination of the two names Megah Brown, became Damion's alias while performing in the Bay Area's poetry circuit, and when searching for a name for his new location, his alias was recommended and the rest is history. Damion says that a great barber should have clientele that doesn't mirror his reflection but reflect the community around them. With that said.. don't be surprised to see someone from all walks of life in his chair. Just remember to make an appointment because his schedule is full and his time is invaluable. Come in, get a cut and or shave, then 'Go out there and be somebody!'
