The Karate Kidz program of the American Institute of Taekwondo is a program that helps children become better versions of themselves! What sets our center apart from the average karate school is (1) our specialized expertise in working with Children; and (2) the age-specific training that each student receives. Dr. Judy Flury, the owner of our school, is a personality psychologist, and has worked with children for over 30 years. Aside from teaching at our school, Dr. Flury has worked various Grand Prairie elementary schools by providing bully-prevention presentations, is on the faculty board of the Martial Art Teacher’s Association, and authored the book “How to Raise a Real Winner: Simple Strategies to Give Your Child the Qualities of Success.” Our age-specific Karate SKILLZ children's program is internationally acclaimed, and is currently being taught in over 100 professional martial arts schools in 7 countries. The Karate SKILLZ are amazing age-specific curricula (3 & 4 years, 5 & 6 years, 7-9 years, and 10-14 years old) that teach more than just kicking and punching; they are designed to develop the student as a whole. With their own age-specific SKILLZ program, each student trains to become a better version of themselves -- more so than any other sport or activity available today! Our classes are customized to use traditional, disciplined Taekwondo training, combined with fun and exciting drills. This format gives children the best of both worlds -- the focus, confidence, discipline, and respect that is provided by traditional training, and also a whole lot of fun! This program is sure to prepare every athlete for any sport that they participate in and have them ready to compete on a very high level. The emphasis of training will be on the following: Functional Training, training that translates directly to the starting line, speed mechanics, dynamic speed development and keys to acceleration, general strength, strength and power components to generate explosive traits, and weight training Plus theres 's a proven progression through the olympic lifts, as well as periodic analysis and assessment of each athlete's progress. Speed and power unite in a unique blend of speed enhancement, resistance exercises, plyometrics, cardio, and of course core builders designed to engage your core and develop functional strength in any sport.
