Our Mission: Lil Dumplins' mission is to inspire children to follow their passion and encourage others to do the same through exposure to the arts. As a social space for parents and an educational experience for children, we bring together families who value the importance of early art education in a synergistic environment. Our Story: A truly “home grown” business, Lil Dumplins began in our living room in historic West Village, Detroit! We are now holding classes at the N'Namdi Movement Center in Midtown, Detroit and hosting pop-up classes all over the city! The Class Leader/Founder, Shirel Jones: Born in Trinidad and raised in Brooklyn, I discovered ballet at age 8, and dance became a source of self-expression and solace unlike any other. My passion for dance grew exponentially and it led me to attend the LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing arts as a dancer. I also trained at The Alvin Ailey School, the American Ballet Theater, and Central Pennsylvania youth ballet intensives. I continued to pursue my passion for dance on the collegiate level at the California Institute of the Arts, receiving a bachelor’s degree in performance and choreography. I eventually discovered a special talent and affection for teaching dance to children, stemming from a deep appreciation of the impact dance has had on my life. I taught children ballet and Contemporary dance at Santa Barbara Dance Arts; modern dance in Puerto Rico housing projects with Modern Limbic; ballet and contemporary modern dance at the Avant ballet school; and ballet and creative movement at the Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts in Brooklyn College. Over the past couple years, I expanded my teaching interests to music and visual arts, in addition to dance, and taught independent classes in Brooklyn through “Dancing Tots.” Since my arrival to Detroit, I rebranded my classes as “Lil’ Dumplins” to reflect a more holistic approach to art education. The arts have opened doors to amazing experiences and have been an intricate part of my well-being and human experience. I want art to benefit each of my students in the same way.
The CCS Imaging Center is a student-run print center located on the 6th floor of the Taubman Center. The IC offer both laser and inkjet printing, as well as wire and plastic binding. The Imaging Center does not alter your file in any way. All files must come in ready for print.

It was renamed for the French founder of Detroit, Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac. It is a National Historic Landmark in Michigan, listed in 1985.HistoryGeneral Motors BuildingAfter much pressure by the General Motors Board of Directors, William C. Durant agreed in 1919 to construct a permanent headquarters in Detroit for the company he formed in 1908. The corporation purchased the block between Cass and Second on West Grand Boulevard and removed the 48 structures from the site to begin work.Groundbreaking was held June 2, 1919 and the Cass Avenue wing was ready for occupancy in November 1920 while the remainder of the building was under construction. The building was originally named for Durant, but an internal power struggle led to his ouster in 1921 and the structure was renamed the General Motors Building. However, the initial “D” had already been carved above the main entrance and in several other places on the building where they remain today.The structure was completed in 1922, and served as General Motors world headquarters from 1923 until 2001. It is approximately 2 miles to the southeast of Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly, where Cadillacs are currently built.

Detroit station is a train station in the New Center area of Detroit, Michigan. It serves Amtrak's Wolverine line and is planned to serve the QLINE light rail system.DescriptionThe station consists of a one-story building which includes a waiting room, ticket office, and restrooms. The platform is accessible by a tower at the back of the building, which heads to the level of the elevated GTW Shore Line Subdivision railway.HistoryThe Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) bought the 3.1 acre site of the station for $889,000 – which also includes land directly across the tracks – in 1994 from General Motors. The station was built in 1994 as a replacement for the former Michigan Central Station, which closed in 1988. From the closure of Michigan in 1988 until the new stations opening in 1994, services used a platform close to the old station.FutureSince the mid-2000s, MDOT has been working with local and federal agencies to develop an intermodal transit center one block south of the current station bounded by the Conrail North Yard Branch railway to the north, Woodward to the east, Amsterdam to the south, and Cass to the west. The station would bring together the services of Amtrak, DDOT, SMART, M-1 Rail, and future proposed services including the Woodward Avenue BRT and Ann Arbor-Detroit regional rail. The first phase was completed in 2010 consisting of clearing the site and building a surface parking lot for the future station. MDOT announced in January 2016 that the department was also seeking to partner with developers to also include mixed-use development at the site.
A Coalition with the MICHIGAN STATE MEDICAL SOCIETY In case you haven't noticed, we're a natural coalition. Medical Society members want to cultivate and improve relationships in the communities and with their colleagues. Medical Alliance members have as their objective the best interests of the medical professions. The Alliance can be a forum for spouses to learn about the medical profession and its related problems. Alliance members can also be another voice in the legislative arena and an effective force in public relations. With the continuing changes in health care, it is of mutual benefit for the Medical Society and the Medical Alliance to cooperate and work together. Individual society members can lend expertise to Alliance health programs and projects as advisors or participants. The Medical Society benefits by having a resource of people power, experienced managers, and program planners with broad community contacts. Alliance members can be effective monitors for legislative health issues and community health education by bringing awareness of gaps in services. Alliance members are also great public relations experts who can deliver timely health education messages and be an integral part of the medical association programs. Together, physicians and spouses can project a caring image that will strengthen community relationships and promote quality health education.
Through a generous grant from Allstate Insurance, the Detroit Urban Debate League was reinstated in 2009, serving seven schools and 104 students. In 2010, participation has nearly doubled. In its first competitive season, the Detroit UDL made the following notable achievements: 1. Increased the number of debate participants by 136% 2. Increased debate competitions by 683% 3. Advanced to quarterfinal rounds at the NAUDL Chase Nationals in April of 2010
