Airport is an elevated rail station and southern terminus on the Red and Gold lines of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority rail system, located at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It is served by the Gold Line at all times. It has an island platform between two tracks. This station is the southern terminus of the North-South Line. It was opened on June 18, 1988. The station was built during the construction of the airport terminal, which opened on September 21, 1980, but it was not connected to the rest of the system until the line reached the station in 1988. The mezzanine on the lower level has the faregates and is inside the airport terminal. Since all trains are northbound from here, the island platform is set up such that the \"southbound\" side is for Doraville trains and the \"northbound\" side is for North Springs trains. This is the third busiest railway station on the MARTA system, after Five Points and Lindbergh. This station provides access to the airport's North and South Terminals. Transfer service is provided outside this station by the ATL Skytrain to Georgia International Convention Center and to the airport's rental car facility.
