Flamenco Latino has moved its administrative offices to Jackson Heights. Flamenco Latino still offers weekly classes at different levels in dance, cante and guitar, hosts workshops with both US- based and Spain-based guest artists, and produces concerts in its studio theater. Flamenco Latino is dedicated to developing a NYC-style of flamenco based on the historically precedented influence of Latino art forms on flamenco,and through collaboration with other artists in areas such as Tap, Cuban Rumba, Salsa and Jazz.

In 1956 commercial director Bob Barron met radio actor and announcer Dwight Weist. TV was a new invention and commercials were just in their infancy. It seems incredible now, but at the time it was almost impossible to find good actors willing to perform in the unfamiliar industry of On-Camera Commercials. Bob and Dwight were inspired with the idea of teaching newcomers to read copy and feel comfortable in front of the camera. They created a step-by-step technique, teaching new actors the fundamentals of Commercial Speech, On-Camera Performance, and most importantly, how to project their individual personality. The course was an immediate success and the school grew to become one of the most respected in all areas of on-camera training. Now a half-century later Weist-Barron is proud to have launched the careers of scores of actors who are working successfully in film, television, theatre and of course, commercials. WB is currently under the direction of Casting Director Valerie Adami, who was lucky to be trained by Bob and Dwight. She is honored to continue the tradition they created, and to serve the acting community, giving new talent the chance to enrich their dreams.
