LOS ANGELES’ HISTORY ECHOES AT COLE’S, ORIGINATOR OF THE FRENCH DIP SANDWICH, housed since 1908 in the hollow of the Pacific Electric building, once the nucleus of the Pacific Electric railway network. At its peak, 100,000 Angelinos passed through the downtown hub daily, many of them stopping to sample the restaurant’s famed French Dips and cold pints. Cole’s, Los Angeles’ oldest public house, evokes the spirit of saloons that dotted the west in the early 1900’s. Original glass lighting, penny tile floors, historic photos, and the welcoming 40-foot mahogany Red Car Bar were preserved in the recent restoration of the cherished landmark, recipient of the Los Angeles Conservancy’s coveted Preservation Award recognizing outstanding achievement in the field of historic preservation. The Red Car’s ample selection of premium spirits, drafts, and historic cocktails compliment the saloon’s classic French dips. The Varnish at Cole’s, acclaimed for its perfectly executed classic cocktails opens Monday & Tuesday at 8pm and Wednesday through Sunday at 7pm.

The Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at L.A. Live modernizes the traditional “bar and grill” concept with approachable fine dining in a stunning setting. Esteemed hospitality designer Tony Chi captures the essence of the relaxed California dining experience which Puck made popular with the original Spago. Chi drew upon inspiration from the restaurant’s neighbors, Nokia Theatre and the Grammy Museum, interweaving musical patterns in many of the key design elements including the floors, light fixtures and wood grains. Just like its name, the restaurant features a contemporary "bar and grill" menu artfully executed by Chef Russ Simon. The menu features Puck's signature comfort food that can be enjoyed either as a casual, quick-bite in the bar & lounge or as a leisurely dining experience.
Faith & Flower is a contemporary Los Angeles restaurant located in the WaterMarke Tower in DTLA’s South Park district. The restaurant’s name pays homage to the two major renaissance periods—the 1920s and modern day—that have fundamentally shaped the Downtown Los Angeles community, with “Flower” referring to the street on which the restaurant lies today, and “Faith” for the street’s alleged name during the early 1920s. Executive Chef Michael Hung, formerly of San Francisco’s Michelin-starred La Folie, will oversee all culinary operations. Michael Lay (Restaurant 1833, Rose.Rabbit.Lie.) helms the bar program as Lead Mixologist, and Ben Spungin (Bernardus Lodge) serves as Executive Pastry Chef. Inspired by a global influence of flavors and techniques, complemented by the use of a wood-fired oven and pristine raw bar, the menu redefines Californian rustic cuisine. The cocktail program celebrates the drinking culture spanning the Gilded Age and Roaring Twenties in Downtown Los Angeles and features cocktails with long-forgotten ingredients as well as modern signature drinks. Designed by AvroKODesign, decorative elements reflect the intersection of modernity and antiquity, with touches that include a partition wall composed of distressed doors collected from the 1920s, a large scale handmade sunburst wall installation, and an entire wall mural by highly acclaimed local street artist Robert Vargas. Faith & Flower is a space where friends, family, and neighbors can feel welcome, and the perfect place for a casual snack and a cocktail, or if you choose, a feast with friends.
