The voters also created the Lottery Act, the state law that provides the Lottery’s clear mission: to provide supplemental funding for public schools and colleges. In April 2010, the Legislature passed Assembly Bill 142, which allowed the Lottery to provide higher prize payouts, consistent with best practices established by state lotteries throughout the nation. Higher prize payouts have resulted in increased sales and increased contributions for their public beneficiary. Welcome to the CHP Air Operations page administered by the Office of Air Operations. Based in Sacramento, our team manages the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Air Operations Program, which provides invaluable service to the public, our allied agency partners, and CHP ground units. Our thirty aircraft are multi-mission assets, well equipped to work in a number of areas including search and rescue, advanced life support, and law enforcement. Although our fifteen helicopters and fifteen airplanes are outfitted with specialized equipment such as rescue hoists, medical gear, and cameras our most important assets are our exceptional pilots and flight officers. We have over 150 crewmembers flying out of eight air units strategically located throughout the state. Our crews are highly trained professionals that began their careers as patrol officers. They come from all parts of California, are members of the communities they serve, and are consummate professionals who focus on their mission to provide the highest level of safety, service, and security. Their skills allow them to successfully complete a multitude of missions including rescues from rocky cliffs, providing advanced life support to injured parties, and managing complex law enforcement events. The City of Sacramento Volunteer Program offers short-term opportunities such as helping with adopt-a-park days as well as on-going placements at our many departments and programs. Community service projects such as making cat beds for the shelter or collecting warm hats for the needy are offered as well.

The California Environmental Protection Agency oversees the activities of 6 departments that carry out the mission of protecting California's environment. They are the Air Resources Board, Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, Department of Pesticide Regulation, Department of Toxic Substances Control, State Water Resources Control Board, and Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment.
Created by the legislature in 2009, the Delta Stewardship Council is composed of members who represent different parts of the state and offer diverse expertise in fields such as agriculture, science, the environment, and public service. Of the seven, four are appointed by the Governor, one each by the Senate and Assembly, and the seventh is the Chair of the Delta Protection Commission. The council's work is supported by an independent board of nationally and internationally prominent scientists.
