Clayton-Tamm is a traditionally Irish-American neighborhood located near the western border of St. Louis, Missouri, USA, just south of Forest Park. Its borders are Hampton Avenue to the east, Manchester Road to the south, McCausland Avenue on the west and Oakland/Highway 40/64 to the north. Its name is derived from the intersecting streets of Clayton Ave and Tamm Ave (Lat: 38.628599, Lon: -090.292882), which is the center of the neighborhood's business district. The Clayton-Tamm neighborhood is one of three (with Franz Park and the Hi-Point) which make up the widely renowned Irish section of St. Louis called "Dogtown". The earliest development in the (not yet) neighborhood was by Charles Gratiot, who in 1785 requested use of the land from Spanish authorities in the French-owned land before the Louisiana Purchase "to cultivate wheat, hemp, corn, tobacco, etc., etc.", (Requoted from McCune Gill by Bob Corbett, 2000) The grant was formalized by the Spanish governor in 1798 and reaffirmed in 1808 by the US after the Louisiana Purchase. After Charles' Death his large land grant was divided into 12 strips and given as inheritance. Major growth in Cheltenham (Dogtown) defined the region in the late 19th century as it developed into a coal and clay mining community. Growth was further accelerated by preparations and construction for the 1904 World's Fair, "The Louisiana Purchase Exposition". While there are a number of theories as to why this neighborhood is known as Dogtown, the most credible account describes a group of coal miners working in what is today Forest Park. When the city acquired the land to build the park in 1876, these people found sparsely populated areas south of the new park and built shacks to live in as they found new work. In order to secure their ramshackle homes, many of the squatters used watchdogs, which would defend their territory. Dogtown is home to the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, which is the more authentic of the two St. Louis parades for this holiday. On March 17th, thousands gather to watch the Ancient Order of Hibernians' parade, which runs down Tamm Avenue and features many local Irish Schools of Dance.
We have regular science labs during school year on Saturday from 9:00am to 4:00pm. We have astronomy, chemistry, agriscience, engineering, computer science, neuroscience, and entrepreneurship components in our program that engage teens in critical thinking about science and fun scientific learning. During summer time, we don't have regular components but we do have Summer Time Science that serves the same purpose as regular school year activities while adds to more insights of knowledge and provides more internship opportunities for the teens.

Founded in 1997, the Community Arts Training (CAT) Institute at the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission is an intensive cross-sector training of artists of all disciplines and community activists of all kinds with 270 graduates. The goals are to create and sustain strong arts-based community programs that amplify the voices of under-resourced communities; regenerate and unite neighborhoods; and create significant vehicles for positive change. The CAT Institute is an innovative program centered on the belief that art has the power to be an agent for social change: For sixteen years, as the oldest sustained training of its kind in the country, the Community Arts Training Institute has provided a rigorous multiple-month curriculum to prepare artists of all disciplines and their community partners to collaborate in creating and sustaining significant arts programs primarily in under-resourced community settings, such as neighborhood organizations, social service agencies, development initiatives and education programs. Learning to collaborate across borders and boundaries takes discipline and time. The CAT Institute is not a "workshop."

OUR PROGRAMS: Recycling On the Go St. Louis Earth Day’s Recycling On the Go is the region’s first wide-scale event-greening program. Green Dining Alliance A program committed to working with St. Louis restaurants to reduce their environmental impact. By considering all areas of operations, the GDA puts strong emphasis on reducing, recycling and composting restaurant waste as well as sourcing sustainable food, to-go ware and cleaning supplies. St. Louis Earth Day Festival The St. Louis Earth Day Festival is the oldest and largest Earth Day Festival in the Midwest. Attracting 30,000 attendees on average annually, the Festival is a premier destination for the public to learn about a wide-range of environmental issues in an engaging and entertaining setting. Recycling Extravaganza A collection event for hard-to-recycle items made its debut at the 2011 St. Louis Earth Day Festival. All are invited to load up their cars, trucks or bicycle baskets with any (or all) of the items that will be collected by one of a dozen partnering non-profit organizations or recycling companies. St. Louis Earth Day Symposium This important educational and networking event for local governments and planning professionals gives tools for implementing sustainable considerations in new projects throughout the St. Louis area.

Community Resources And More enlists the efforts of the public and private sectors and encourages them to work together to reduce welfare dependency. Working in cooperation with these groups, Community Resources And More matches families who need assistance with an adoptive church or civic group. This partner stimulates and mobilizes private effort to provide alternative assistance (non-monetary) and mentoring. It is a rewarding experience for churches and other groups to help less fortunate families.
Inspired by R. Crosby Kemper, III, the idea of a free, outdoor Shakespeare festival began in 1997. In 2001 Chairman of the Board Marvin Moskowitz, first Managing Director Lana Pepper and a visionary board of civic leaders produced the first annual free Shakespeare Festival in Forest Park. Since the initial two-week run and first season attendance of 33,000, the Festival has grown to a two-month celebration of the Bard throughout the city with annual attendance over 60,000. Averaging over 3,000 audience members nightly, the Festival has become St. Louis’ premier classical theater and a main cultural attraction for the city. ts. Rick Dildine served as the Festival’s first Executive Director from 2009 – 2014 and oversaw its growth beyond the Park to the schools and streets of St. Louis. In 2014, the Festival entertained its 640,000th patron in Forest Park and 270,000th student. Our legacy is seen in the tens of thousands of patrons and students who have participated in our work. Year-round we are engaging our citizens in the schools, in the streets and in the park. With a commitment to community, conversation and collaboration, our theme of unexpected theatre drives our creative and producing choices. Each season hundreds of supporters come together to produce Shakespeare Festival St. Louis. Unlike other theaters in the region, SFSTL depends almost entirely on the contributions of individuals, foundations, corporations and public institutions for support. We do not follow a traditional model; we believe we are creating the next model. We’re still writing our story. We’re trailblazers; we’re making the path together. Join us!
Fair Saint Louis 2016 – America’s Biggest Birthday Party in Forest Park! Join us this July in St. Louis’ iconic Forest Park, which was recently named “Best City Park” in the nation by USA Today, as we celebrate our nation’s independence. Saturday, July 2, through Monday, July 4, the grounds that once hosted the 1904 World’s Fair will welcome back fairgoers to experience three days of memorable fun and entertainment. Keeping with Fair tradition, this year’s event will feature a variety of free family entertainment, live music from nationally-recognized recording artists, and much more. And as always, an unforgettable, world class fireworks show will close out each night of the Fair. Mark your calendars for July 2, 3 and 4, and we’ll see you in Forest Park for America’s Biggest Birthday Party!

Offering Shelter, in Jesus' Name since 1986! The Grace and Peace Winter Shelter has been offering temporary, overnight shelter during the colder months to homeless women of St. Louis since 1986. We are planning, Lord willing, to reopen for this winter on November 12, 2014. If we don't open that date, we will open a bit later. We are working hard to get all the volunteers signed up to operate the Shelter! The Winter Shelter operates in the basement of Grace and Peace's building in an urban area on the west side of the city. By the grace of God, many suburban churches send helping hands and meals each winter. Neighboring churches and agencies also partner with us! As a result, the shelter ministry extends well beyond the boundaries of the congregation of Grace and Peace.Many women have come back year after year to stay at Grace and Peace during the winter, citing the warm community there that they like to call home. Many have also "graduated" to apartments of their own. The Winter Shelter receives no government funding, relying instead on volunteer helpers and meal providers as well as on donations to cover staff stipends and other expenses. We also provide services for survivors and caregivers to celebrate their victories and appreciation for those who have stood by and taken care of the patient. This organization believe that your are "Stronger than before" as you have gone through the fight and won or in the process of winning the fight. It is our desire to make this process a little easy by providing those things that are necessary for the patient to successfully endure treatment. We will offer programs that will help keep your beauty intact as you progress in your treatment. One of the ways we achieve this is by offering support to purchase head covering for the patient as their hair is being restored. We also give support to spouses that are challenged by this process to become more supportive and understanding of the physical changes and embrace those that might be permanent . Overall we are here to support patients, survivors and caregivers as the go on this journey.
In the autumn of 2010, several women who had sung together in other groups gathered to establish the Missouri Women's Chorus and had the very good fortune to engage Scott Schoonover as Artistic Director. Auditions were held in January, 2011 to form the first group of 24 singers in the Chorus and work began immediately on our first concert. The first of two a capella concerts held during 2011 occurred on May 1, performed at Union Avenue Christian Church, St. Louis, Missouri. Titled Amore, Sacred and Profane, this concert explored the theme of love in both sacred and secular contexts and featured early Spanish works, 16-century madrigals, Brahms part-songs and contemporary motets. The second concert of 2011 was held on December 3 at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Titled Mystic Nativity, this was a Christmas concert comprised of works devoted to the figure of the Virgin Mary, and the performance was enthusiastically received by a standing-room-only audience. Our first concert of 2012 was held on May 6 at The Chapel for the Arts in Clayton, Missouri. Two back-to-back performances allowed us to accommodate our audience at this small venue. In a more relaxed setting, where listeners could enjoy a glass of wine or other beverage, we sang of Fair Phyllis and Other Naughty Shepherdesses: A Renaissance Cabaret. We were fortunate to be accompanied by local artists Tracy Andreotti on cello, Mary McKenney on recorder and Jeff Noonan on lute.
