The Elisabet Ney Museum is the historic Austin, Texas studio of European-born portrait sculptor Elisabet Ney (1833-1907). See portraits from life by Ney of 19th-century European intellectuals, statesmen and kings as well as Texas heroes, together with photographs and memorabilia of Elisabet Ney. The former studio, including its 2.5 acres, was designed by Elisabet Ney. The former studio is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a member of Historic Artists Homes and Studios, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Recycled Reads sells literary materials withdrawn from the Library’s collection and donated by the community. The store is an active participant in the City of Austin Zero Waste Plan, ensuring obsolete materials are handled in an environmentally responsible way by keeping these materials out of landfills. Items sold at Recycled Reads fund Library programs and items we are unable to sell go to third party recyclers. In this way the Library contributes to a socially responsible cause by ensuring that knowledge and learning is passed along to others in need. Books that are unusable as reading material are responsibly recycled for reuse. The store is run primarily by community volunteers with oversight by Library staff. The 81st Texas Legislature (2009) created the Office of the Independent Ombudsman for State Supported Living Centers (OIO). The Ombudsman’s office provides oversight and protection for residents of state supported living centers. The OIO also acts as an advocate for residents, their families and legally authorized guardians. Our office is charged with ensuring residents receive due process and that they know how to file a complaint with a state center. The OIO also investigates rights violations, as well as refers cases and reviews final reports concerning allegations of: abuse, neglect or exploitation (ANE) from the Department of Family and Protective Services; employee misconduct or violations of ICF-MR standards from DADS Regulatory; and criminal activity, other than ANE, at state centers from The Office of Inspector General, and ensures complaints receive due diligence during the investigation.

The Domestic Operations Task Force is commanded by Brig. Gen. Pat Hamilton. It is comprised of JTF-136 (MEB), 176 ENG BDE, the Joint Counter Drug Task Force, and the Southwest Border Task Force. The TXMF SAPR/SHARP Office is committed to eliminating incidents of sexual assault by instituting a comprehensive policy that focuses on increasing awareness through prevention and education, victim-centered support, intimidation-free reporting, thorough investigation, and accountability for those who commit sexual assault crimes. We assist units by placing proper personnel in position to act as Victim Advocates/Sexual Assault Response Coordinators. We coordinate training for newly appointed VAs/SARCs, conduct refresher training for current VAs/SARCs, and ensure units are conducting their annual mandatory training. We give VAs/SARCs all the tools they need to complete successful training and to respond to reports of sexual assault.
