While “regular” art classes primary (if not only) interest is the end product (whether it be a painting, sculpture, composition or dance), our meditative art classes place the inner state of the artist as the main focus. The technique is also given importance, and the creator is both an artist and a witness, attentively observing the process as it takes place.

Offering Painting/Art/Meditation Weekly Classes/Customized Events for Adults
As well as Party Packages or Weekly 1 hour and 15 minute Art Classes for children ages 5-17. Children learn pencil drawing, pastel work, painting with water colors and acrylics, as well as mixed media projects.
4 Classes $95. Art supplies not included, but may be purchased through The Heart of Art.
Mondays, Thursdays, or Fridays -- 4:15 to 5:45pm for children 5-8 years old.
Mondays and Thursdays – 6 to 7:30pm, and also on Saturdays 12-1:30pm for children 9 and up
Here, at Heart of Art, we delve into a true study of the Fine Arts. We study creative expression through the world of shapes, textures, and of course, colors. The students learn in a fun, inspirational atmosphere. For example, some days we may listen to classical music as we paint, and discuss the composer. Other days, we might write poetry to go with our drawing, and present it to the class for discussion on its meaning for existence. Classes at the Heart of the Art are a meditative experience, which is the essence around which the creative process revolves. Other than introspective discussions regarding art and its meaning, children also learn about the principles of light and shade, about the use of materials, color theory, art history, and proper composition.
My name is Saima Yousuf, I am a professional artist and I've had five years experience teaching children. I graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from The College of New Jersey with honors. I offer small, private art classes for adults as well as children, at my studio conveniently located in Hamilton, NJ. Some materials I work with are: pastels, terra cotta, watercolor, acrylic paint, canvas, colored pencils, as well as mixed media.
