The Kimball House was the name of two historical hotels in Atlanta, Georgia. Both were constructed on an entire city block at the south-southeast corner of Five Points, bounded by Whitehall Street (now part of Peachtree Street), Decatur Street, Pryor Street, and Wall Street, a block now occupied by a multi-story parking garage.First Kimball HouseDesign and constructionIn 1870 on a recommendation of building contractor John C. Peck, Hanniball Kimball purchased a lot near the Union Depot where the Atlanta Hotel had been before being burned in 1864 during the American Civil War. He gathered the financing for the endeavor through a confusing (and later a scandalous) combination of bonds, mortgages and subscriptions. The original estimate for the hotel was $250,000, though it eventually cost $650,000, 1/15th the total assessed value of Atlanta real estate at the time. The unusual funding scheme resulted in Kimball filing for bankruptcy and losing control of the building by the next year.Kimball hired William Parkins as the architect while Peck served as the construction manager for the project., Construction began immediately on March 28, 1870, the day after Kimball received his lease from King. The lot, primarily owned by Joseph Thompson, was located on Pryor Street between Decatur and Wall. Thompson sold his portion of the land to Kimball through his real estate agent George W. Adair. The rest of the land was leased to Kimball by Richard Peters and John P. King.

What is the YLD? On May 31, 1947, what is now the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, commonly known as the YLD, was formed. All members of the Bar who have not yet reached their 36th birthday or who have been admitted to their first bar less than five years are automatically members. Today, the YLD is one of the most dynamic arms of the Bar, offering outreach to both the profession and to the public through various legal programs and projects. Over the years, the YLD's various committees have accomplished amazing things. For example, the YLD is recognized as the moving force behind the Georgia Legal Services Program. In 1968, the YLD initiated a study to address the needs of the poor, concluding that "there was a distressing disproportion between the actual need for legal services by those who could not afford them and the present supply of legal services available to them." As a result of reports like these, the YLD created GLSP in 1971. The YLD is also the source of the Georgia High School Mock Trial Program. Founded in 1987, it has grown into a nationally recognized educational program. Another project credited to the YLD is the rewrite of Georgia's Juvenile Justice Code. In 2004, the YLD secured funding to create a model juvenile code, and the YLD's Juvenile Law Committee spearheaded an entire overhaul of the previous code. The governor's Criminal Justice Reform Council focused on reforms to Georgia's juvenile law and legislation was passed unanimously by the Georgia General Assembly during the 2013 legislative session to rewrite and recognize Georgia's juvenile law. The YLD has been recognized numerous times throughout its 67 years with various awards from the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. In keeping with its motto of "working for the profession and the public," the YLD has over 30 hard-working committees that provide service to the public, the profession and the Bar through an array of projects and programs. The Fulton County Courthouse, built between 1911 and 1914, is an historic courthouse building located at 136 Pryor Street SW in Atlanta, seat of Fulton County, Georgia. It was designed by noted Atlanta-based architect A. Ten Eyck Brown (1878–1940), along with the Atlanta firm of Morgan & Dillon. It is officially the Lewis R. Slaton Courthouse. On September 18, 1980, the original building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. An annex across the street is connected via skywalk. Both are located in South Downtown. In March 2005, Brian Nichols overpowered and escaped from a sheriff's deputy at the courthouse, causing her brain damage, and then killed the judge in his rape trial, a court reporter, and another deputy, and later a man at another location, before kidnapping and holding a woman hostage. He was found guilty of all 54 counts against him at his trial, which was moved to Atlanta Municipal Court to avoid the crime scene where most of the killing spree occurred.

The Atlanta City Hall building is the headquarters of the City of Atlanta government. It was constructed in 1930, and is located in Downtown Atlanta. It is a high-rise office tower very similar to dozens of other city halls built in the United States during the same time period. Located in South Downtown, it is near other governmental structures, such as the Georgia State Capitol and the Fulton County Courthouse. The Neo-Gothic structure features many architectural details that have helped to make the building a historical landmark. It is Atlanta's fourth city hall.HistoryEarly city hall buildingsAfter half a decade of makeshift meeting places for city business, in 1853 mayor of Atlanta John Mims purchased the four-acre "Peters's Reserve" from Richard Peters for $5,000. On this land was built a two-story brick structure for the city hall as well as some court functions. Each floor was 70 by 100ft providing nearly 15000sqft of space. It opened on October 17, 1854 and served for three decades during which time it served as campgrounds for the occupying Union army during the war and was briefly the state capitol during 1868 when the capital first moved from Milledgeville, Georgia. It was demolished in 1885. In 1882, Atlanta City Hall was relocated to the old chamber of commerce building, which was four stories tall and located on the northeast corner of Pryor and Hunter . It was the city hall from 1882 to 1911.
