FUEL uses fresh and simple ingredients accompanied by affordable beers, signature cocktails, and unique wines. You won’t find items on the menu you can’t pronounce, nor will you find ways of cooking that defy the laws of science. Fuel has a tropical setting housed in an old gas station with an indoor/outdoor bar and one of Charleston’s largest patios. The ambience strikes a wonderful balance between relaxation and nostalgia. Chef Michelle Weaver has created an exciting menu that incorporates tradition without being bound by it, then adds a few touches of the delightfully unexpected. The menu, which changes regularly, is divided into four categories: Pure, Lush, Southern, and Cosmopolitan, each section beautifully reflecting its title, or allow the chef to create your own special tasting menu. But don't let that stop you from mixing and matching from the categories. In fact, we encourage it.

Barony Tavern offers a fresh perspective on fine dining and classic American fare. The restaurant is the brain child of Robert Carter, who is well known for his work at Rutledge Cab Co. and Peninsula Grill. Barony Tavern is Chef Carter’s first solo venture and promises to be a culmination of his culinary experiences. Chef Carter has spent more than 25 years in the fine dining arena. He attracted national attention for his work in Charleston, but his resume also includes stints in Dallas, TX; Key West, FL; and Walland, TN (at the renowned Blackberry Farm). Every career move has significantly influenced Carter’s love affair with good food, and Barony Tavern captures the best of each culinary experience. Breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are eclectic but uncomplicated. The collection of American fare features a variety of classic dishes, and Carter artfully connects each to Charleston in some elemental way. The menu certainly has a story to tell, but Barony Tavern’s interior has become a conversation piece as well. The décor, which features Scottish details and nods to Barony’s namesake, creates a regal but homey manor house feel. Guests are greeted by a unique collection of taxidermy that, upon closer examination, becomes a cast of quirky characters. Each has a personality and story of its own that transforms the fine dining space into something fun. And it is people who bring that fun to life. People from all walks of life—locals and tourists, for business or pleasure—come together to share good food and good company. Barony Tavern begins with Chef Carter’s culinary experiences, but it doesn’t end there… Every guest who visits the space becomes part of the Barony story.
