The World Aquarium is an interactive animal exhibition, conservation research center, and animal sanctuary located in Laclede's Landing, St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Some highlights of the child-centered exhibition are being able to feed and touch many animals. The museum allows general admission, school tours and behind-the-scenes tours.The aquarium houses a variety of animals such as sharks, rays, turtles, parrots, marsh turtles, otter, snakes, alligator, crocodile and sloth. The displays are located on 2 levels, one with large fish in large displays and the other level with filled with smaller displays designed for child-centered experiences.According to the curator, the mission of World Aquarium is to increase the knowledge of aquatic life and environments, to enable people to conserve the world of water, and to provide leadership for the preservation and sustainable use of aquatic resources globally.The aquarium depends heavily on its volunteers and donations. Some volunteers have been working for five years or more. The aquarium which has been open for more than 23 years, reopened in a historic building near the Mississippi Riverfront in 2016, after a short hiatus to allow for a move from its previous location at City Museum.

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis was established in 1914, after the creation of the Federal Reserve System in 1913. The Eighth Federal Reserve District is headquartered in St. Louis and has branches in Little Rock, Ark., Louisville, Ky., and Memphis, Tenn. The District includes all of Arkansas and portions of six other states: Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. The St. Louis Bank serves most of eastern Missouri and southern Illinois. As one of the 12 regional Reserve banks in the Fed System, the St. Louis Fed is central to America's economy. All of the Reserve banks share some degree of similar duties. But because the banks are independent of one another, each has some specialized assignments and tasks that distinguish it.

The Youth and Family Center serves children and families mostly living in the challenged St. Louis Park Place, Old North, Carr and Columbus Squares neighborhoods in the City of St. Louis' 5th Ward. In recent years, the Youth and Family Center has served nearly 4,400 youth and adults. The largest programs at the center of the Youth and Family Center’s mission are the Afterschool Program (Monday- Friday 2:30-6:30pm) and Teen Outreach Program (Tuesday-Thursday 4-5pm). These involve serving a snack and warm meal, tutoring/homework assistance, computer education, arts & crafts, sports teams, fitness and nutrition classes, and programs focusing on the development of self-esteem and life skills that prevent bullying, drug use, and teen pregnancy. The center’s Jazzy Senior Program (Mondays and Thursdays 10-1pm) is designed to combat hunger while providing social interaction, health and wellness activities, and address end of life concerns for adults 55 years and older. The Mission Continues is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization empowers veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact. We deploy veterans on new missions in their communities, so that their actions will inspire future generations to serve. Our operations in cities across the country deploy veteran volunteers alongside non-profit partners and community leaders to solve some of the most challenging issues facing our communities: improving community education resources, eliminating food deserts, mentoring at-risk youth and more. Through this unique model, veterans build new skills and networks that help them successfully reintegrate to life after the military while making long-term, sustainable transformations in communities and inspiring future generations to serve.

Since receiving its 501(c)3 status in 1986, Gateway Greening has developed five core programs to address these urban concerns: 1. The Community Gardens Program has helped start and support more than 200 community gardens in the St. Louis area. These gardens have inspired, educated, and reflected the pride of the program's participants, and have often become community focal points and catalysts for neighborhood improvement. 2. The Youth Program supports 75 school and youth-focused gardens in St. Louis, and works to change young lives by involving at-risk youth in sustainable food production and garden-based education. 3. Whitmire City Seeds Urban Farm, located at Market and Pine streets on two and a half acres of land in the heart of the city, is an urban agriculture initiative providing job training and therapeutic horticulture to homeless and underserved individuals. A collaboration of several local organizations, the farm produces and distributes affordable, healthy, and locally grown produce. 4. Urban Roots engages volunteers from gardening, educational, business, and horticultural "green" industries, as well as non-profit service communities, to enhance the downtown St. Louis urban landscape through large-scale seasonal plantings. 5. Hub Gardens are gardens that serve communities and local schools. These hub gardens provide educational opportunities, as well as technical assistance for gardeners. In addition, Hub Gardens provide helpful services such as vegetable gardening workshops, food preparation demonstrations, seedling propagation, and tool lending.

The Original SLAM in St. Louis, is looking for a 15 great poets, every first Friday of the month from September to April. Sign up is at 7, the show starts at 8:00 pm with a CASH prize for the best poet of the night, decided by five random judges. There is a $5 cover charge. Poetry Slam = Poetry Competition. The volunteer firefighters proposed and organized a fire district in 1953, thereby having the power to collect taxes to support department operations. District boundaries were laid out to cover 47 square miles in South St. Louis County. By the end of 1953, the voters of the area approved the incorporation of the Mehlville Fire Protection District (MFPD) and elected three directors. In 1969, forty-one firefighters joined together and petitioned the International Association of Fire Firefighters for membership, becoming IAFF Local 1889. In 2012, Mehlville Firefighters joined Professional Fire Fighters of Eastern Missouri IAFF Local 2665 and continue their pride and dedication of serving the citizens of the Mehlville Fire District. Currently, the Mehlville Fire Protection District provides fire protection and emergency medical services to a population of 110,000 residents in fifty-two square miles of South St. Louis County. The District consists of seven stations with seven engine companies (including two seventy-five foot quints), an all-terrain pumper, a heavy rescue squad, a one-hundred foot aerial platform and six ALS ambulances. Personnel consist of firefighters, paramedics and administrative staff. It is anticipated that the District will respond to nearly 13000 calls during 2014. The District currently holds an Insurance Services Organization (ISO) rating of Protection Class Three. The assessed valuation of the District’s currently stands at $2,227,618,170.

Looking at the electronic music scene in St. Louis, there seems to be a major division of fans. Some are more focused on more classic sub-genres; like house, breaks, jungle and trance. Others prefer the more modern, bass-heavy styles, such as dub and trap. Diversity is always a good thing, but it seems like some people have become so polarized in their musical preferences that it seems like they have become close-minded to the opposite faction We all became involved in this scene because we were looking for a change from the norm. We broke out of our comfort zone, tried out something new, and found a place in our hearts and our very souls sated by the beats. That feeling is what we are striving to bring back to the scene. By reaching out to new people and exposing them to the different variations of the scene, by focusing on events in both genres, by throwing events featuring a variety of different styles of music we are hoping to build a bridge over this musical gap that we seem to have created. The bottom line is, St. Louis is to small of a city to have this much division and polarization. By focusing on all the genres that the electronic music scene has to offer, we're hoping to show that their is beauty in diversity, and that we are all Bound By Beats!
