Welcome to the Riverside Music Studios! Music lessons for children and adults. All ages and levels welcome! Learn to play Classical, Jazz, Pop, and Broadway Hands-on, high energy piano, violin, cello, guitar, flute, and voice lessons.

Led by Ms Tammy Ying, TC Music Studio consists of a small team of teachers based in NYC who conduct private music lessons in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. We take pride in our ability to customize lessons based on students needs, and believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn music. We hold various kinds of lessons in studio and in home!

Music Studio Manhattan (MSM) specializes in teaching violin, viola, theory, chamber music, orchestral audition and music appreciation. Under the direction of Ching Chen Juhl, who teaches music at St. Joseph's College as well as a concert violist, the studio uses the Western traditional method with Suzuki philosophy as well as Chinese training theory. Believe in each person can learn music, MSM helps students all ages to achieve their individual goals. The MSM shares ideas, photos and videos. To students: daily practicing, taking weekly private lessons, and attending live concerts are essential. Performing publicly is encouraged strongly. To parents of young children: making notes for your child at lessons is beneficial; helping practicing is very important. Bio: Ching Chen Juhl, a senior music lecturer at St. Joseph's College for 11 years, has performed throughout North and South America, Europe, Hong Kong and China. A graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, she earned a M.M. from Indiana University in viola performance. Her major teachers were Xidi Shen, Kim Kashkashian, and Csaba Erdelyi. A Silver Prize winner at the Giuranna International Viola Competition, Ching has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in US and China. She was a member with the Phoenix Symphony, Pittsburgh Opera and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. She has backing up Rod Stewart, touring with Perry Como, and performing in the Broadway Touring Production of My Fair Lady with Richard Chamberlain. Her love and dedication for chamber music led to the founding of the Jade String Trio in 1999. Holding a minor degree in Violin Teaching to Children from the Indiana University, she has taught at Bloomingdale School of Music, JCC Chamber Music Camp, Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Long Island University. Ching Chen Juhl has been teaching private lessons for more than 25 years.

Come and join the fun of music making with your baby, toddler or preschooler. Adults, regardless of their musical ability, can help create an environment that supports children in achieving basic music competence. Children of mixed ages participate at their own level by singing, moving, chanting, listening, and exploring musical instruments. Parents and caregivers participate with the children and receive music development information about their own child. Together, music allows for fun and family bonding.

The Singers Center offers a unique, supportive, and lively environment where singers get career coaching, share experiences and resources, learn about the business of music, work with instumentalists while learning from active professionals in the music industry.

A vocal studio specializing in performance singing for young and advanced students who are seeking to feel more comfortable with their voice, improving range and quality as a singer, coaching for an upcoming audition, or would like help with performance anxiety or a specific vocal challenge.

A beautiful voice is a free voice. The practice of singing unleashes the flow of creativity, endows greater depth and nuance of feeling, and empowers expression. It integrates body and mind. It’s my aim to revolutionize the way singers think about and develop classical vocal technique. Advances in the fields of biomechanics, sports science and psychology have yielded information and resources that are of tremendous benefit for my community. It’s time to allow traditional methods to evolve with the help of modern insights and technologies. My studio includes professionals, emerging artists and avocational singers who perform everything from opera to Persian classical music to death metal. I contribute a regular monthly column, “Musings on Mechanics”, to Classical Singer Magazine, and I oversee The Voice Studio Group on Carnegie Hall's interactive educational web site Musical Exchange. I earned my BA in Music at Bennington College, MM degrees in both Voice and Clarinet Performance at Peabody Conservatory, and a DMus in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at McGill University. Voice teachers who have significantly influenced me include William Neill, Dominic Cossa, and of course my beloved mentor and colleague W. Stephen Smith.

Michael Warren D.M.A. obtained his Doctorate in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance from the University of Maryland, along with Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Denver, and has operated a prominent vocal studio in New York City for over 25 years. Several of his students have made leading role debuts at the Metropolitan Opera, and have sung in all of the major opera houses of the world including Covent Garden, La Scala, San Francisco and Bayreuth, appearing with such renowned artists as Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo and Mirella Freni. They have also performed leading roles on Broadway and in major jazz venues around the world. Several of his students have also established significant careers as voice teachers. Dr. Warren has served as vocal pedagogy instructor at Finland’s Korsholm Festival, sharing faculty status with Nicolai Gedda, and was named one of the top 10 voice teachers in New York by Houston Grand Opera. Working from the natural function of the voice, he has developed a unique pedagogical approach that enables the development of each instrument from its particular strengths. His students are noted for their exceptional range and stamina, even registration, and for the individuality of their vocal quality and timbre. As a performer, Dr. Warren has appeared with the Baltimore Symphony under Sergiu Comissiona, and the National Symphony in Washington, D.C. He was tenor soloist with the Roger Wagner Chorale and is a former member of the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants, where he also served as rehearsal conductor.

Howie Scher is a private guitar instructor with over 30 years of teaching experience. From 1999-2001 he taught at the American Institute of Guitar in New York City. As a Staff Instructor there, he helped many musicians of all ages and levels realize and advance there talents to become true artists. His individual and group lessons are both fun & effective. Styles include Blues, Folk, Country and Songwriting Composition. Throughout his teaching career, Howie also managed and sold instruments in retail shops across the city. As a professional musician, he also traveled from coast to coast performing both original songs & covers in clubs. Working in the music industry has given him the opportunity to work with incredible artists and to hone his skills as an instructor and musician.

PS 166, the Richard Rodgers School of Arts & Technology, is a public school administered by the New York City Department of Education and located in the city's Upper West Side neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan. An elementary school, it serves about 600 pupils in kindergarten through fifth grade.The building, located on West 89th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues, was designed by C. B. J. Snyder and opened in September 1899. It was completely renovated and modernized in 1995 and designated a New York City landmark in 2000. Although the school is still referred to as PS 166, it was formally renamed in honor of Richard Rodgers in 2003.

St. Gregory the Great school is located on the diverse Upper West Side of Manhattan. It is conveniently located within walking distance of Riverside and Central Parks. Public School 9, The Sarah Anderson School is a public elementary K–5 neighborhood catchment school that offers two programs: Renaissance and Gifted. Founded in 1830, P.S. 9 is located on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, New York City.School nameThe Sarah Anderson School is named after Sarah Anderson, a beloved school paraprofessional and parent for whom the Board of Education renamed PS 9 at a May 1981 memorial dedication. Never married, she was the mother of three: Clarence "Pete" Anderson, Ronald Dean Anderson, and Thomas Anderson. Sarah Anderson is buried at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Griffin, GA. Her nickname, for those close to her, was "Peggy." Her daughter-in-law, Earnestine Anderson, also worked with Sarah as a paraprofessional at PS 9. Earnestine resides in Griffin.In 1993, under Principal Joan Gutkin, PhD, PS 9 received magnet school funding for music and art and henceforth adopted the name, "Renaissance School of Music and Art." Upon the departure of Dr. Gutkin, and with the ebb and flow of funding for the arts, PS 9 uses both names, interchangeably.HistoryOriginal locationThe school that became P.S. 9 was originally organized by the vestry of Saint Michael's Church (Episcopal) in the early 19th century. The vestry continued to operate the school in the Bloomingdale area until a law was enacted November 19, 1824 which barred church schools from receiving public school funding. On May 22, 1826, the Public School Society of New York acquired it; and, in July 1827, the Society paid $250 for a 100x100 foot tract at 82nd Street between 10th (Amsterdam) and 11th (West End) Avenues. On July 19, 1830, the Society completed the construction of a one-story clapboard school at 466 West End Avenue for $1,500, accommodating about 50 children. The Society transferred jurisdiction of the school to the Board of Education in July 1853.

Over 7 years experience teaching math and history in the New York City Department of Education. Experienced in multiple teaching styles and catering to students of all levels. I do not just do homework with students. I learn the specific curriculum the student is following, and design instruction to increase student learning. Homework can be used to practice that instruction when appropriate.
