With showrooms in Manhattan, Bridgehampton and West Palm Beach, John Salibello is responsible for helping to establish Mid-Century Modern as a distinct trend in interior design. His four showrooms are filled with an incredible selection of lighting, furniture and art pieces. This inspiring assortment involves a commitment that only someone with a tireless passion could foster. Early on in his career, John amassed a private collection of antiques through his constant travels. However, he ultimately found himself with no space left to house these treasures. It was at this point that he bought a charming old farmhouse on the main road in Bridgehampton and opened his first antiques showroom. The success of the Bridgehampton showroom fueled his ambition to expand his business to Manhattan. As he became increasingly attracted to the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic, he began to relentlessly buy all he could find. Whether it was important design or the extremely unusual, John would acquire as many pieces as possible in an effort to present the most eclectic collection he could imagine.
Carlos de la Puente Antiques is a second generation family business that specializes in antique and vintage lighting. Established in 1938, this year marks our 75th anniversary. Philip Colleck, Ltd. specializes in very fine eighteenth and early nineteenth century English Furniture and works of art. We are located in midtown Manhattan in a pre-Civil War freestanding brick house at 311 East 58th Street, just east of Second Avenue. Our building was designated a New York City Landmark in 1967 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Two floors of exhibition space display our collection of William & Mary, Queen Anne, Georgian, Chippendale, Hepplewhite, Sheraton and Regency furniture, with an emphasis on Chinoiserie, lighting, mirrors and screens. Our antiques are carefully selected and guaranteed in writing. We take pride in our stock and are always searching for pieces of exceptional quality with particular attention paid to fine color and patination. IPIF MISSION Research IPIF was responsible for creating the International IP Research Consortium which consisted of 5 laboratories in 5 countries that collaborated in the effort to isolate the IP gene. IPIF paid the salaries of some of the researchers, and provided funds for members of the consortium to attend meetings. Equally important was identifying individuals and families for participation in molecular studies of this disorder, both multigenerational families and those with unknown mutations. Devise an accurate and safe prenatal diagnostic test. Develop a database to assess more accurately clinical variation, natural history, and prognostic indicators. Identify additional mutations which cause IP Study treatment modalities. Understand related anomalies, particularly in males. Animal models of IP already exist, transgenic mice are fomenting studies of the gene's lethality and the expressivity of the disease. The researchers are now better able to study treatment modalities. Family Support It can be a devastating experience for parents to be told that their baby has IP. When a child has a rare disease, close personal contact among families and friends can provide emotional support and lessen the feeling of isolation. 36 East 72nd Street is a luxury residential housing cooperative in Manhattan, New York City. In 1995 it was ranked among the top 10 cooperative buildings in Manhattan by the New Yorker Magazine. Well-known residents have included Robert Agostinelli, Carlos Brillembourg, Michael Smith, James Costos and Olivier Berggruen. The 15-story, 1927 building has only 17 apartments.
The Gertrude Rhinelander Waldo House is a French Renaissance revival mansion located at 867 Madison Avenue on the corner of East 72nd Street in the Lenox Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Completed in 1898 it was designed by the architecture firm of Kimball & Thompson and has been more specifically credited to Alexander Mackintosh, a British-born architect who worked for Kimball & Thompson from 1893 until 1898.Gertrude Rhinelander Waldo, the New York heiress who commissioned the mansion, never actually moved in.ArchitectureThe mansion was modeled on the chateaux of the Loire Valley in France. Architecture critic Henry Hope Reed Jr. has observed about it:The fortress heritage of the rural, royal residences of the Loire was not lost in the transfer to New York. The roof-line is very fine....The Gothic is found in the high-pitched roof of slate, the high, ornate dormers and the tall chimneys. The enrichment is early Renaissance, especially at the center dormers on both facades of the building, which boast colonnettes, broken entablatures, finials on high bases, finials in relief and volutes. In fact, although the dormers are ebullient, ornamentation is everywhere, even in the diamond-shaped pattern in relief on the chimneys (traceable to Chambord).
