Our most valuable asset is our multi-disciplinary professional staff that includes psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, family medicine, internal medicine, nursing, licensed professional counselors, physical therapist, spiritual directors, art therapist and dietitians. Many aspects of our work involve multi-disciplinary teams working together to treat the individual needs of patients. The Institute offers various levels of care, depending on the patients’ needs ranging from individual outpatient, family, intensive outpatient programs, and partial hospitalization programs. Patients and families work with our professional teams to identify problems and formulate individual treatment plans and level of care. Recovery Care Treatment Services provides an individualized treatment program that is suitable for every clients’ requirements. Our medical staff is composed of licensed doctors, nurses, psychiatrist, counselors and therapists. We rely heavily on volunteers, foster families and donations to continue rescuing stray dogs and cats from East St. Louis. The educational philosophy at Shaw Avenue Children's Center is demonstrated by the following: We include a diverse group of families and staff. Our smaller overall enrollment size and our small child to teacher ratios are comfortable for very young children. Our encouraging learning environment is formed by our knowledge of individual child development, as opposed to a school model based on age requirements. We promote the growth of children's emotional security and confidence as a foundation for their mental and physical growth. Teams of teachers model the decision-making and cooperation that we expect children to learn. The practice of our Peace Table process confirms that young children have the ability to reach mutually agreeable solutions.
Safe Families for Children (SFFC) is a national movement of compassion that gives hope to families in crisis. Safe, loving homes are provided where parents may voluntarily have their children cared for while parents seek to restore stability in their lives. Our dedication to family support, stabilization and child abuse prevention is driven by responsibility for the well-being of children in our communities. Founded in 2002, SFFC has partnered with churches, local community agencies and volunteer families, as well as government organizations in more than a dozen states. The SFFC network has provided essential extended-family relationships to nearly 1,000 children and families annually.
FLOURISH St. Louis is based on the collective impact model of social change, which is guided by the notion that no single organization is responsible for any major social problem, nor can any single organization cure it. This initiative will engage a broad group of citizens, community partners, businesses and other areas of our society to make a sustained and long-term decrease in infant mortality. It will increase community understanding of the issue and accelerate change by focusing everyone on a single set of goals that are measured in the same way.
