The 7th Annual Homegrown Festival will once again fill vibrant Downtown Dallas with music and art at Main Street Garden Park on Saturday May 14th. The bands, all with ties to the state of Texas, will be performing many genres and styles of music on the Shiner Beer stage and the Chevy Music Showcase stage. Since 1996, LEAGUE Foundation has awarded over 100 college scholarships totaling more than $170K to self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (GLBT) graduating US High School Students based on the following achievements: a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; significant involvement in community service; and acceptance to an accredited US college or university. Originally, the Foundation began as a grass-roots organization with the generous support of LEAGUE Members (Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender United Employees at AT&T). Through the years, however, the organization has grown into a national scholarship fund reaching all 50 states with support from corporations, individuals, and other GLBT organizations.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit restaurant, Café Momentum teaches critical skills that allow youth to apply what they have been taught in pre-release programs in a safe, real-world environment of nurturing accountability. By participating in our program, at-risk young men and women rotate through every aspect of the restaurant from waiting tables to washing dishes, while working side-by-side with established chefs.
North Texas United Methodists with a heart for mission and an emphasis on replacing storm-damaged roofs. L4N facilitates purposeful, impactful, and inexpensive weekend mission trips for men and women since 2005. Responding to an early December plea from Sabine Pass UMC to replace the roof on their fellowship hall before Christmas, over thirty youth and parents of youth made a weekend trip to the Texas Gulf coast and completed the mission. Their resounding success prompted the group to share that experience by focusing on Spirit-filled mission experiences with a "no excuse" weekend trip at an affordable cost. Long after the news media left, L4N responded to mission opportunities along the Texas Gulf Coast brought about by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005 and Hurricane Ike in 2008. L4N was incorporated as a non-profit in 2007 and received its 501(c)(3) status that year. Removing and replacing a roof in one day is our tradition. Few mission teams of inexperienced workers are able to do the same. Yet, many individuals and churches in Texas’ Gulf Coast area, and now in storm-ravaged Central Oklahoma, have been the beneficiaries of our teams’ enthusiasm and diligence.

Robinson. Black Allegiance operates exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code. The original Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot was held at the Old Fairgrounds back in the early 1940s, but the long string of consecutive years began with the eight mile race back in 1968. The unique eight mile distance was created when the one hundred and seven participants were instructed to run along the shores of White Rock Lake "to the big oak tree and back". By 1979, the race had become so popular that it was moved to the downtown area to accommodate more runners and to showcase "Big D". The 3 mile Fun Run/Walk was added in 1984 to accommodate the increased participation of individuals and families. In 2009 the distance was changed to 5K and the course was certified. The Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is a YMCA tradition that draws people from all over the country each year. Even if you're not a runner or walker, there are fun activities for the whole family to enjoy: clowns, pony rides, bounce houses, live musical entertainment and much more!
