Omega Psi Phi Fraternity & The Upsilon Omega Foundation, Inc. The Upsilon Omega Foundation, Inc., a corporation created by the Upsilon Omega Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., exists as an independent not-for-profit corporation chartered by the State of Missouri and granted an exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The foundation was created on July 22, 1996 to exclusively accommodate the Fraternity's commitment to provide charitable, educational and civic programs and services to those in need in the St. Louis community. In keeping with that stated mission, the foundation will devote its time, effort and resources to the creation, planning and implementation of activities and operations specifically designed to uplift the community; and thus, improve the quality of life for its residents and provide scholarships to college bound students. The men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity are committed to being part of the solution of the problems faced by the youth of our community. It begins with our members: over 100,000 strong world wide. Founded in 1978, Hibdon Hardwood, Inc. is a U.S. importer of exotic wood, burl, and veneer logs predominately from Guatemala and Mexico. Hibdon Hardwood specializes in making parts for musical instruments, specifically acoustic guitars, with a client base that includes Gibson Guitar, Taylor Guitars, Martin Guitar Co. and Collings Guitars as well as a variety of other smaller instrument makers world wide. With access to the premium materials, the company concentrates on the woods for the backs, sides, necks, and fret boards used to build top of the line guitars as well as dulcimers, mandolins, ukuleles, and other stringed instruments. Headquartered in a facility located in Saint Louis MO, Hibdon Hardwood, Inc. features a horizontal band sawmill, a horizontal band resaw, planer, straight-line rip saw, wide belt sander and other related machinery. This warehouse also includes two low temperature dry kilns with a total capacity of 15,000 board feet and a 2,200 square foot retail space which is open from 7 A.M. to 4 P.M. Monday through Friday.
The Cotton Belt Freight Depot in St. Louis, Missouri at 1400 North 1st Street. It is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The five-story freight depot was constructed in 1911. Its most distinctive feature is its long, narrow shape. The concrete building is approximately 750' on its east and west elevations and only 30' on the north and south. The five stories include a series of loading dock doors on both sides that are sheltered by a concrete awning. Widely spaced metal-frame industrial type windows line the upper stories. A slightly taller cornice line marks the section of the building where the company offices were located. Most of the building's detail is reserved for this section where the company's name is displayed in two levels over a bay window.Other details include terra cotta medallions on the corners bearing the name "Cotton Belt Route"; a Classical style frame around the office door; keystones that decorate the windows near the building's north end; and copper lion's heads that join the awning poles to the building.
