The Marjorie Barrick Museum is a museum located on the main campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, established in 1967. The museum was originally instituted as a natural history museum with a focus on the natural history and environment of Nevada and the broader Southwestern United States. In December 2011, the Barrick joined the UNLV College of Fine Arts and became the anchor of the Galleries at UNLV. The six galleries and one museum that make up the Galleries are each entities in their own right linked through a common administration. The Marjorie Barrick Museum, is a well-known venue for engaging exhibitions and events, and promotes engagement with the visual arts among a broad community including UNLV students, faculty, and staff; the greater Las Vegas community; and the national and international art community.HistoryThe founding of a natural history museum at the university—then an institution only a decade old, known as Nevada Southern University—began with a collection of specimens from the Desert Research Institute (DRI), the Nevada System of Higher Education's graduate research institute. In September 1967, the DRI opened a small museum facility in premises across from the university's grounds, as part of an expansion of DRI's activities into southern Nevada. The museum was created under the direction of archaeologist Richard H. Brooks, assistant research professor at the university and a researcher (later director) of the DRI-affiliated Nevada Archaeological Survey. Its exhibits consisted of DRI's local collection of living desert animal specimens and Native American artifacts.
Sabakon™ is an annual 3-day pop culture convention dedicated to promoting the cultural and educational aspects of animation, gaming and innovation held on Labor Day weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. It is operated by Sabakon LLC and hundreds of other staffers and volunteers from Hansha Studios℠, an arts and crafts company; City of Virtue, a community oriented consulting and management company; and many other Las Vegas groups. Sabakon™ provides a unique and artistic medium for entertainment and creativity. It is a mecca for individual and collective expression, where attendees come to showcase their arts, costumes, game skills, inventions and more. While currently hosted at the Alexis Park Resort, in the past Sabakon™ has been held at other Las Vegas resort venues such as Texas Station in 2013 and Circus Circus in 2012 and 2011. The convention was founded in 2011 by Hansha Studios, originally named as Anime Day, a small fan based gathering of approximately 100 people for 1 day of family friendly fun activities. Today, Sabakon™ has grown to become one of the largest animation based convention in Nevada with thousands of attendees as of 2014, and a large exhibit hall featuring vendors and artists from all over the country.

Since it began, 3ology has always featured a sampling of the best 3d short form content and experimental works from around the globe. 3ology has shown at other film festivals around the world as part of our 3DFF outreach program. 3ology helped program 3D Content at Cinequest, NAB, CES, ComicCon, Fantastic Fest, Sundance, Tribeca, TIFF and Orlando Film Festival to name a few of our partners. THE 3D LOUNGE The 3D lounge is the 3DFF program that started it all. What started as a few 3D TV’s in a corner of a room has grown into one of the most successful touring events in the history of 3D. Now present in more than 5 countries and 30 cities annually, the 3d lounge will continue to provide a showcase for the latest and greatest 3d technology displays and creative works from around the world.
