Come and join the party, burn calories, release some stress and make new friends :) I am all about having fun and getting that sweat on! I love to dance and challenge the body. My goal is for Zumba® students to not only burn lots of calories and tone their body, but to have fun while doing it, popping and shaking their bodies.
Quesada Garden Initiative has been a big part of the life of Bayview since before 2002. We have been helping to build community one block at a time. We do community building that makes possible local living on streets with a bad reputation... - Food producing gardens for connecting people to people, people to place, and place to power… - Public gathering spaces designed by the people who use them... - Public art created collectively... - Community organizing done by community members... - Online communications and social networking by folks who already connect in the real world... - Cost-effective change strategies as an alternative to those that spend millions of tax dollars to produce disappointing results...
This club was founded on December 7 2012 by James Kevin Chan. This club is to bring Taekwondo to Burton High School and be part of the SFUSD Taekwondo Community. We teach basics, sparring, Poomsae(Forms) and lots more. The Chief Instructor even hold belt promotion exams. We have three sections: 1) General Taekwondo - Students who practice everything in Taekwondo. 2) Sparring - When you join this section, you will be focused more on learning sparring techniques and strategies and you are allowed to join the Burton High School Taekwondo Sparring Team. 3) Poomsae(Forms) - When you join this section, you will be focused more on learning Poomsae(Forms) and you are allowed to join the Burton High School Taekwondo Poomsae Demonstration Team. To join the Sparring or Poomsae section, you will have to ask the chief instructor or you will be offered a place in one of the sections. If you aren't sure which section you are going to join, the officers or the chief instructor can help you decide. If not, you can still learn General Taekwondo.
The Tompkins Avenue stairway runs along a block of open land that is approximately 60 feet wide by 140 feet long. The property is vacant city-owned land (an “unclaimed street”), running from Nevada Street down to Putnam Street on the southeastern side of Bernal Heights, just above the Alemany Farmer’s Market. The stairs are an important gateway connecting Bernal Heights and other San Francisco residents with the crown jewel of our neighborhood: the Alemany Farmer’s Market. For the residents who live on the side streets along Cortland Avenue, the stairs are the way for them to get to and from the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, and the Flea Market on Sundays. In the fall of 2007, a group of neighbors came together to work on reclaiming and cleaning up the Tompkins Avenue stairs. None of us had ever met each other before. None of us had ever been part of a neighborhood organization before either. But we worked together and successfully applied for a Community Challenge Grant through the City of San Francisco, and with our fiscal sponsor San Francisco Parks Trust have transformed the stairway and hillside into a beautiful urban park. We invite you to join us in continuing this tradition of community involvement and participation in San Francisco. We conduct a workday the first Saturday morning of each month starting at 10:00 AM to help maintain our beautiful park, including weeding, sweeping, watering and socializing. It's a great way to meet some great people, and we look forward to meeting you too!
