The building at 3166-22nd street was built in 1924, with a Barber Shop in mind. Throughout the many years of the Barber Shops’ life, the interior of the shop had wood paneling, with large wall mirrors built into the walls on the right side of the shop. The stations were black with many storage cabinets for equipment and tools of the trade. It had an old fashioned cast iron leather barber chair and three other black leather ‘beauty shop’ chairs. There had been many other owners who rented the space at the barber shop. I met a family whose grandfather was the owner back in the 30’s. Of course the place looked a bit different then. I’ve also met other families whom had owned it in the 50’s and in the 70’s. They’ve all had great stories to tell. In the later part of the 80’s, my boss and good friend Mr. Holliday (Don) bought the space at the barber shop. He owned the spot for almost 22 years. I had worked with him for 14 of those years. The shop was then known as “Holliday’s Hair, Hair, Hair Barber Shop”. We always had customers come from all over the bay area for the services we offer. Whether it was for hair cuts, color or an opinion for the correct product to use or to buy. When I first started with Mr. Holliday, I came with my own clients. Over the years, I have acquired a larger clientele who have also become friends. Our shop has always given ‘great service’ to our customers. Sadly, my friend Mr. Holliday, known as “Doc Holliday” passed away. I then acquired the space at the Barber Shop, as the new Owner. I had a Grand Opening on June 1, 2004. All together it has been 23 years in the same location and in the profession for 36 years. I still offer the same ‘great service’ to my customers and carry on the tradition of the Barber Shop with a little twist of my own thrown in to bring a smooth relaxing sensation to your mind, body and hair – as both a barber and a cosmetologist.
