Penelope is a cafe, bakery, and bar. It is also a worn-in welcome mat, your favorite flip flops, and a hug when you are missing home. The home cooking is prepared with the best ingredients and a little creativity by a loving kitchen; it is a refreshing take on mom's recipes and is delivered to you here just the same, always with a smile and an encouragement to relax. Penelope opened its doors in 2003 to a warm and welcoming neighborhood. It is owned and created by Jennifer Potenza and was built with love and a lot of patience by her partner, Michael Tsoumpas. Penelope is a quilt of all the places Jenny has had the pleasure of working. She has bussed clam shacks in Cape Cod, had flour fights in Bozeman bakeries, made deli sandwiches in Montauk, brewed urns of coffee in Chelsea, has tattooed burns from a West Village kitchen and stained shirts from cocktailing in the east village. She’s poured the best Italian wines at the best Italian sandwich shop on Bedford St., managed a town coffee shop outside of Boston, and has parked it for now at 30th & Lex where she is currently surrounded by a team of managers and hardworking staff that she and Penelope could not live without. Currently, Penelope is under the operation of Lukus “maneater” Hasenstab who first joined the quilt in 2004 as a server. Over the 20 years he has been with us he has brought a high level of organization, sobriety, and competence to the team that is invaluable. His leadership and his dedication are why Penelope still has its shell. His wing-woman and beverage director, Allison "git ‘er dun” Garskof has also been with us since 2004 and has signed on as a life coach for Jenny and the turtle, to whom her love, creativity, employee direction, and dance moves are invaluable. We have the support of an amazing neighborhood, to which we are always trying to give our best, and also sparkly regulars who make the heart of Penelope beat. And sparkle. Pret operates a bit like a restaurant. We build a kitchen in every shop. You won’t find ‘sell by’ dates on our fresh sandwiches and salads. We don’t sell ‘factory’ stuff. We donate our food to charity at the end of each day rather than keep it over. In New York, we partner with City Harvest, in Washington, DC with Thrive DC, in Chicago with Inner City Mission, and in Boston with Boston Rescue Mission, Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, and New England Center and Home for Veterans. We create handmade natural food avoiding the obscure chemicals, additives and preservatives common to so much ‘prepared’ and ‘fast’ food. Our ingredients are delivered early every day. We don’t mind that fresh and fragile ingredients go off quickly – we start from scratch each morning. Our menu is updated all the time, so check back often.

One Madison is a luxury residential condominium tower located on 23rd Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South, at the foot of Madison Avenue, across from Madison Square Park in the Flatiron District of Manhattan, New York City. The building's address is 23 East 22nd Street, where the main lobby is located.HistoryAlthough much of the area nearby is included in various historic districts - such as the Ladies' Mile Historic District, Gramercy Park Historic District and Madison Square North Historic District - the location of One Madison is not, enabling the building to be constructed "as of right" with the transfer of air rights from the shorter buildings that surround the site.When the building was originally announced, it was to be 47 stories and called The Saya; the name was changed to One Madison Park around the time that construction began in 2006 and then to One Madison after it was taken over by the Related Companies. The building as constructed has 60 stories. It features 360-degree views and contains 53 residential units, topped by an 6,850-square-foot triplex penthouse with a 586-square-foot wraparound terrace. The original asking price for the penthouse was $45 million, and was originally announced as including a butler with his own one-bedroom apartment on a lower floor. Prior to Related's take over of the building, the penthouse was under contract for $32 million, but that deal never closed.
