What would happen if we rebuilt Orgasm from the ground up, but this time, included consciousness? The same way that we have been moving from processed to whole foods, from mere fitness to yoga, Orgasmic Meditation (OM) ushers Orgasm out of the dark, from the shameful and often consumptive places where it used to be, and into the light. To date, we have been squandering one of our most powerful resources. We have been using it haphazardly, recreationally, to blow off steam when, if channeled correctly, it could be used to light up the entire power grid of connection. Here we can have experiences that foster our growth and well-being.

We teach Aikido to Adults and Children. We maintain the highest level of training of any Dojo on earth. Suginami Aikikai San Francisco, California started as "Skidrow Dojo" in the back of a photo studio on Sixth Street in San Francisco February 1986. A group of artists asked James Friedman to teach them self-defense shortly after the violent murder of a loved one. Classes began in the shadow of tragedy, and Aikido in a small way helped heal the suffering these people were going through. Beginning as a club for that group of around ten friends, the dojo soon outgrew the Sixth Street studio and relocated to 759 Harrison Street in San francisco, California where it remained for three years. Since 1987 the Dojo has hosted many of the world's highest ranking Aikido instructors, including Kato Sensei, Nishio Sensei, Anno Sensei, C. Tissier Sensei, P. Hendricks Sensei, Sugawara Sensei, Terry Dobson Sensei, K. Cottier Sensei. After the 1989, San Franicisco earthquake, James moved the dojo a few blocks away to 57 Stillman Street, and it stayed at that location for ten years. In 1996 Kato Hiroshi Sensei was welcomed to San Francisco, and shortly thereafter "Skidrow Dojo" was renamed Suginami Akikai SF and became an official branch dojo of Suginami Aikikai Tokyo. Our dojo's official connection to the world headquarters - Hombu Dojo in Tokyo, Japan. In 1999 we moved to our present and final location at 141 11th street, between Mission and Howard streets, San Francisco, California.
In 1981, a group of multi-ethnic San Francisco Bay Area parents, educators and civic leaders implemented a compelling vision. They created a school with a bilingual, multicultural curriculum in English and Mandarin Chinese to prepare children for an increasingly interconnected world. Shirley Lee, a founder and the Head of School for 15 years, began teaching four young students in two modest classrooms. CAIS was the first school of its kind in the nation and remains one of the few independent Pre-K through eighth grade English-Mandarin immersion programs in the U.S. This bold experiment has become a shining model of success. Today, the school enrolls more than 470 students. Under the leadership of Head of School, Jeff Bissell, CAIS graduates continue to enter leading high schools and universities. Some alumni now study and work in China, while others enjoy exciting careers in the U.S. that draw on their bicultural education. The school has grown from two classrooms to a lively, bustling campus with two libraries, two computer labs, four science labs, an art studio, a health center, multiple multipurpose rooms, a gymnasium and playgrounds and a new Pre-K campus located 10 minutes from the main campus.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from early 20th century Kodokan Judo ground fighting (Ne-Waza) fundamentals that were taught to, Luiz França and Carlos Gracie by master Mitsuyo Maeda 前田 光世. Brazilian jiu-jitsu eventually came to be its own art through the experimentations, practices, and adaptation from the Judo knowledge of Carlos and Hélio Gracie, who then passed their knowledge on to their extended family.
