The eleventh annual Dallas Ministry Conference will be held October 19 -21, 2017 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas. Co-sponsored by the University of Dallas the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, the 2017 conference strives to bring together Catholic faithful from the diocese and the surrounding area to learn, pray, and Walk Together in Faith. The event will feature two keynote addresses, one in English and one in Spanish, on Friday, and several plenary addressed in both languages on Saturday. It will also feature session tracks specifically designed for teachers, catechists, and general Catholic audiences, including talks on faith, parenting, and social justice. Sessions will be offered in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese, and the conference will also host over 100 exhibitors, a liturgical art display, musical performances by well-known and up-and-coming Catholic artists, and several prayer services and a Conference Mass.

The El Centro College Drama Department welcomes all students wishing to participate in the art and work of theatre. We offer a variety of classes ranging from an Introduction to Theater to Stage Make-up to Acting. The department produces at least 2 main stage productions, one each long semester – Fall and Spring – usually directed by drama faculty. We also produce plays in the black-box Arena Theater. Directors include both faculty and students wanting to explore the art of directing live theatre in a small space. All students and members of the El Centro family are invited to audition. Our program meets more than distributional requirements. It challenges students to look at the possibilities of performance. A multi-disciplinary approach to training ensure that our students are proficient in all areas of the theatre. We educate students to understand the societal, cultural, and academic contexts of creating theatre in the 21st century. We encourage experimentation and the use of technology while providing a strong foundation of classical and traditional texts and styles. From the Greeks and Shakespeare to devising and puppetry, we don't just work outside the box...for us, there is no box!
