Created in 1999 by Julian Mejia, SALSAtlanta has been promoted Cuban music and dances and teaching Rueda de Casino and Casino dance, also known as "Cuban Salsa" or "Salsa Casino" in Atlanta and Athens GA. As part of their efforts to promote Cuban culture and its dances, SALSAtlanta has produced and sponsor many events during the years and hosted classes and dance workshops that embrace Cuban and Latin culture in the South. As some of the efforts to keep the culture alive, SALSAtlanta has been responsible for the creation of evening events like: - Salsa on Tuesday at Apres Diem (since 2001) - SALSAtlanta Annual Fiesta de Navidad (Since - 2002) - Sunday Classes (Since 1999) - Wednesday Classes at Tongue & Groove (Since 2002) - Thursday Classes at Compound (2003 - 2005) - SALSAtlanta 10, The 3 Day Cuban Party (since 2009) SALSAtlanta 10 was created as a celebration of SALSAtlanta first decade of teaching and promoting Cuban dances and music. Directed by Julián Mejía with the valuable support of Michael Yi, "SALSAtlanta 10, the 3 Day Cuban Party" has been growing and is now a must attend event for Cuban music lovers and Casino dancers in North America and abroad.

Networking Guru!!! How did I get the name "NETWORK"... Well while working in Atlanta entertainment mecca of the south on/off the clock I always managed to either have a pocket full of business cards or always connect with people. Some people say they aren't a people person etc. However to have or ambitions of dreams of being in front of the camera or on stage etc... Part of your job rather than the 10% of entertaining people and that 90% of business falls into also being a well knowledgeable of the industry. That's contracts, percentages, split-sheets and your rights. Being a people person is very important! Why??? The people who make you are your fans, or the person next to you especially in Atlanta might just be the person who can get you paid or put you where you need to be. Always have a good attitude even when your day isn't going right. Remember you're a walking product! Your first impression might open or close a door. Stay focused on accomplishing rather than partying with the industry and you will succeed. It's not about what you know... But who you know. How to politic and network is very important to embarking in this field. Make no's turn to yes! Making dreams come to life slowly or as time permits. Nothing is easy! However everything is possible. I have worked in Atlanta, Georgia entertainment district for five years. Meeting seeing many well-known people on TV, Radio or in Movies everyday. That's not to BRAGG... I'm just saying most of your everyday movie stars, singers, rappers etc are really driven. They don't have time to waste. Note: Time is money! Before running up on a celebrity think about if they have already been swamped with cds or hassled for autographs. In other words they're just people. People like you and me just living in a different light. However they deal with a lot more from the media, stalkers or just having busy schedules. Working corporate/entertainment security gave me a chance to work major televised events as an extra while going to school and building my business. Studying the entertainment industry while in school as a audio engineer gave me the knowledge/confidence to network with todays notables. The industry is bigger than you know... But at the same time it's small world. Always build your bridges vs burning them. Never be a groupie but respect those who have paved a way for you. Be on time! Be determined and prepared at all times. Never hand over head-shots/Comp Cards or music that isn't Mixed & Mastered/professionally done or well prepared! Presentation is very important. That goes beyond your attire. Have packages for your cds, or a promotional 4x6 card with your website/information etc. Always dress the part. I don't know everything about the industry... However I have seen more than enough to know that it's not a walk in the park. Or how to connect with people and where to get started etc. Let's Network! I don't mind having consultations. Prices are set by the hour. If I don't have the answer I know who does. Or where to obtain the information. Networking is a must not just for the entertainment business but for anything you want to accomplish in life. You don't have to be a star to shine like one. Because you are one! Never stop dreaming. However do everything possible to make dreams come to life. Success is possible no matter how long it takes. Or where you come from! All things are possible!

The Hagedorn Foundation Gallery opened in April 2008, under the mentorship of Julian Cox, curator of photography at the Getty and High Museums. Since that time, the gallery’s intention has been to broaden the Atlanta audience’s basis for visual reference in photography and photo based art to artists who are concerned with the role of their work in the socio-political and cultural arenas. Since February, we have presented a series of group exhibitions investigating the idea of self vs circumstance in our culture today. Changing Room: Womans Image, addressed female identity manufactured by our commodities culture. Boys Life/Play War, similarly investigates the sometimes bewildering male requisite for aggression, courage, virility, emphasized by an exhibition in our second gallery of constructed paintball arenas and war costuming by children of U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq.
