In the ever evolving Castro district of San Francisco, a new stylish Art and Antiques gallery opened in mid-June: evolve. The owners chose the name evolve as the gallery is an ever changing and rotating collection of the Decorative, Rare and Unusual. The small space is packed, yet neatly arranged with rare 17th to 20th century natural history and Architectural engravings, important fine art, paintings and drawings, framed vintage insect collections and natural history specimens. Furniture includes American, Italian, Chinese, Portuguese and Baltic dating from the 18th century to the 21st century. Pieces are selected from auction houses, private collections and carefully chosen from antique dealers who have consigned items in the gallery. Also offered is a wide range of accessories and one of a kind decorative objects. The gallery offers smaller gift items as well including rock crystal and Amethyst votive candle holders, carved jade fruit and vintage planters. The gallery is owned by business partners Jeffrey Doney and Richard Sablatura. Mr Doney runs his design business out of the gallery and specializes in residential remodels and additions. He has been an avid collector of all things rare and unusual for 25 years. His business partner, Mr. Sablatura, has a business management and Information Technology background and maintains his full time employment at a San Francisco based Environmental Engineering firm. When the Castro storefront became available they jumped at the chance to fulfill the dream of opening a shop, offering the best, stylish pieces from years of collecting. The gallery is a “Cabinet of Wonders” displaying an amazing collection of unique art, uncommon decorative objects, and antique furnishings.
