The USS Pearl Harbor is a Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship. It is named after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. The name Pearl Harbor was awarded on October 12th, 1993, and the ship was laid down on January 27th, 1995 in Avondale Shipyards, New Orleans, LA. She was launched on February 24, 1996 and officially commissioned on May 30th, 1998. The Pearl Harbor is currently stationed out of Naval Station San Diego, California.
The Mission of the Coronado Police Department is to provide superior public safety services to enhance the quality of life for the community. The command is located in San Diego, California, on the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. Besides its beautiful location, another unique strength of EWTGPAC is its joint composition. Air Force Personnel, Civilians, Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers make up the instructors and support personnel for the school, truly making it a joint command. This small but highly capable staff support a wide range of training, exercises, and academic functions for Sailors and Marines throughout the Fleet and operating forces.

HELICOPTER MARITIME STRIKE SQUADRON SEVEN EIGHT is the second HSM squadron established at Naval Station North Island. The establishment and stand-up of this unique squadron continues the legendary history of the helicopter community within Naval Aviation as we transition into the 21st Century. The Blue Hawks will employ the Navy’s newest and most technologically advanced helicopter in the world, the MH-60R. In order to link the storied past of naval helicopter aviation with the unique capabilities of the Navy’s finest helicopter squadron, the above insignia was developed.
