Our goal is to create elegant, classic, timeless pieces in metal, wood, mosaic, stone and glass. Each piece is handmade and hand finished in our studio. The work is inspired by 18th and 19th Century antiques, early European Modernism (Czech, Dutch, and French), the spare clarity of Japanese design, and late modern minimalism. These aesthetic tributaries may intersect within the same piece. Our dining tables are comfortable while being beautiful. They tend to be configured with steel bases and wood tops. We prefer to use local hardwoods; walnut, ash, oak, maple, cherry. We use environmentally compliant finishes that are both beautiful and durable. All of our finishes are hand-rubbed. Leg room, space for chairs and stability, are important factors in design of our dining tables. Our consoles present an opportunity for us to be sculptural. We like to take advantage of the console to compose, to draw lines and shapes. A great cocktail table has to be an inviting place to sit, to read, to have a drink. You may want the cocktail table to "disappear" if you have a beautiful rug. Or you may want the table to stand out. Our minimal designs are seen most often in this category. It is a great challenge in craftsmanship to make a clean minimal piece. Corners and joints must be crisp. All of our joinery is hand-cut and hand-finished. Our end/occasional tables are stylish and versatile. We take advantage of the size of these pieces to make our "jewelry". These pieces may be finished in gold or silver leaf, or made in bronze, nickel, chrome or copper. The Bookshelf is one of our signature pieces. It is derived from the Dutch modernism of Mondrian and Rietveld. The slightly larger steel base adds an Asian element to the design. As with all of our pieces it can be done in any combination of colors, wood finishes and steel finishes.
