It's a sweet story. One day this single man, Marvin, and this single lady, Ronda, met at a singles Sunday school Bible study. Marvin knew that day she could be "the one". Their first date turned into a four hour interview at Sonic. One date led to another. Marvin owned a bakery-deli. He would bring boxes of brownies and cookies to Ronda's teenage kids. Ronda said they were bribes! The kids were hooked on the sweets, Marvin was hooked on Ronda's blue eyes, and Ronda was hooked on Marvin's sweet spirit. Soon, the sweethearts were married. HOMETOWN COOKIE CO. was established in 2006 in our home kitchen, then to a borrowed commercial kitchen. With much encouragement from family and friends the business grew. In July 2009 we opened our storefront and online store. All to the glory of God. Baker, Marvin Owens' HOMETOWN is Lake Wales, FL. He comes from a family tradition of 50+ years of small business entrepreneurship. This is Marvin's fourth bakery. It is the main goal and mission of HOMETOWN Bakery ~ Deli to always operate with honesty and integrity in a manner that will honor and glorify the name of Christ Jesus. It is our desire to be a blessing to everyone who calls, orders online, or comes in our door and create an atmosphere that will be a bright light in our community. Treating every customer, vendor and employee with the utmost honor and respect. All our products will be made with high quality ingredients to produce a consistently enjoyable baked product that you will be proud to serve your family and friends. Our prices will be fair and in line with industry standards. We also realize that we must make a fair profit in order to keep our doors open. As a Grapevine resident, he has a vested interest in the success of the Historic Downtown area, and is an active supporter of those merchants.
